I've never been to Guatemala nor had food from Guatemala, including Mayan food, so I came here as it was highly recommended and nearby my hotel. It was great! There's a ton of options to pick from, I got a local craft beer and a salty lemon water, both of which were refreshing. I started out with assorted tostadas, each of which had a crispy tortilla underneath a variety of meat (shredded beef salad and gizzard were the translations I found), radishes, chiccarrones and more. My main was the Ojer K'utun, 5 traditional Mayan soups; there was a red peppery soup with chicken, a green soup with chicken, a soup that reminded me of mole with chicken, one with 3 meats, and one of bananas and chocolate. What I enjoyed about this place was that it was like dining in an art room. Lots of opportunities to capture some fairly compelling photos. Wish I had brought my regular camera.
Dinner was delicious, and I wish I could remember the name of the dish that I had.
Only reason I hesitated to give a 5 was because it took about 10 minutes, maybe longer, for our cocktails to come out. But … other than that, I would love to come back to this place and try other stuff...
