This place was truly a disappointment. We asked our hotel staff what’s a great place for local Guatemalan food and this was recommended. Of course, I did my own research and thought this is going to be good. This was one of the most unsatisfying meal I’ve had the whole trip.
We order carnitas and I’m not sure what we got. It was cut in cube shape and it was not tender at all. Maybe this is the traditional way for Guatemalan style? Either way, even if take out the factor that I order carnitas, the meat and flavor wasn’t there. It was not well made at all. I got the hilachas which is like a tomato based stew with beef. This wasn’t bad... it was just really salty in my opinion. Also, it lacked in other things. From my Google search, this dish typically comes with potatoes, squash or carrots. What I got was tomato soup and shredded beef. It what I was expecting either. I was really hoping this would be the winner because who doesn’t love elotes and how do you mess it up? Well... let me explain. Elotes typically has lime, salt, chili powder, butter and mayo. At least this was what I’ve been exposed to living in Texas and traveling to different parts of Mexico. What I got was a hot dog on a corn. The elotes had mayo, ketchup and mustard. Also, on the menu, there’s 2 types of elotes.. crazy elotes why is the corn hot dog or just a plain grilled corn. I accidentally ordered grilled corn so I asked again because what I read on the menu didn’t match up. Any who, they were kind enough to make crazy corn for me which I appreciate. However, please save yourself and don’t order this. It was literally the worse...

Read moreWe ate at Los Tres Tiempos for a late lunch on a Monday - up on their terrace. Very nice view of the 3 volcanos.
We had their large plate for two (which really feeds three) with grilled chicken breast, very good steak (not tough), baked potato, sausage, scallions, different kinds of corn tortillas, doblada with cheese inside, rice and beans, cheese, refried black beans, and a couple of different sauces all for about $31 per person (that includes our fresh Rosa de Jamaica drink which is purple in color and made with hibiscus flowers and cinnamon).
Patrons can choose which garden they'd like to eat at. The front face of the building (like most in Antigua) don't do the place justice. But when you walk inside it opens up and one would never think that such a nice place with gardens awaits inside.
Glad my wife and friends...
