Cactus Antigua — Restaurant in Sacatepéquez

Cactus is the bomb! And it's much more than a Taco Shop. Their margaritas are great, but I am addicted to the shrimp and bacon tacos.

I love how they put the cheese straight onto the griddle then put the tortillas on top and flip them before adding the fillings. That adds a another layer of flavor and a crunchy texture to make an already delicious taco stupendous. The shrimp is always fresh and the bacon is always crisp.

I was happy to find out you can order a variety of tacos on one plate because although I want to try the others, I HAVE to have at least two camarón y tocino tacos.

I keep telling them to bottle the salsas; both are great (the red is pretty spicy), but the green sauce is particularly tasty. For now I’ll have to keep going to the restaurant to get my flavor fix.

And now, they also offer weekend Mexican Brunch! The egg and french fry potatoes are super yummy, but the chilaquilas are the best. Just like you get in Mexico they are served with chicken and an egg on top. I like to add crispy bacon (prepared that way without having to ask for it!) and avocado for a truly decadent breakfast. The chips are bathed in a lovely red salsa, and I like to add some picante on the top.

Just like the tacos, the portions are generous. I really shouldn't have eaten the whole thing, but as you can see from the before and after picture, I at the whole thing. It's too yummy to leave even a bite.

Seems a nice little place, had a nice live band.. but cocktails were terrible. Made with fruit syrup and not even a taste of alcohol for the Mezcal mule and my girlfriend had a margarita, this tasted nothing like a margarita and no flavour of alcohol and drinks are higher priced compared to most of Antigua so I assumed maybe they had a nice cocktail Barman/barmaid. I had tacos which were not home made nor tasty & my girlfriend had veggie burrito.. no flavour at all, just over cooked almost burnt vegetables and a little melted cheese.. I had higher expectations of semi decent food as this place was rated 4.5 but I didn’t see anything really decent about it and for the price being higher than most, I definitely wouldn’t recommend..
