Took a large group to stay at this hotel. Great location, friendly people working there. Rooms are a bit sad, out dated and very oddly arranged. There are fans, which is GREAT, but the fan is below the light which causes a strobe effect. The only mirror in the entire room is hung high ABOVE the toilet meaning you have to straddle the toilet to see in the mirror and a child can not see in. The beds are uncomfortable and the furniture is old. The rooftop is beautiful and there are places to sit and even, ironically, mirrors, hung all over the hallways. Lots of the women came to the hallway to put on their makeup and brush their hair. The front desk people are very friendly. The place where you walk to get breakfast is good. Not safe to park outside the hotel and the hotel does not have parking. We parked in an expensive parking area a couple of blocks away the first day and the second brought the car right in front of the hotel to park on the street so the next morning we could get the suitcases in easy. That day someone stole the back off of one of our side mirrors. |All in all the hotel has friendly people in a good location, comfortable prices, good breakfast options and a nice rooftop, but they also have a LOT of room for...
Read moreWe were there three nights, and never had hot water in the shower. After the first night I told the front desk and was told that maybe there had been a power outage, and that I should try it again in the afternoon. The next day we tried it again and the shower was still stone cold. I talked to someone else at the front desk, and they just shrugged and apologized. When we checked out the following day, I told them how unacceptable it was to pay for a standard hotel (this is not a hostel), and not have hot water; but what was most unacceptable is to refuse to try to do anything about it. No one ever came to look at our shower; no attempt to move us to another room with a working shower; and when I asked for a small consideration on the rate as an acknowledgment that they had fallen short, they got a putative manager on the phone who said that was simply not possible, and the most they would do is offer me a discounted rate on my next stay. To be clear, there will be no "next stay". The management of is incompetent and/or unethical.||They could have, and should have, done better. People considering this hotel likewise...
Read moreHotel Posada San Vicente is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Antigua. The location is quite perfect, the staff is friendly, helpful and courteous and the accommodations are right on point. There is a beautiful fountain in the courtyard which enhances your in room experience with its peaceful running water. The hanging flowers below and the potted plants on the roof terrace are enchanting and well cared for. The terrace also provides breathtaking views of the surrounding volcanoes. The rooms are quaint with antique furniture and cultural accents like Guatemalan quilts. While there isn't a pool, for five dollars you can get a day pass to a nearby hotel's pool to cool off. The plaza is just a couple blocks away. Great starting point for day trips. Beers and waters accessible at reception. I thoroughly...
