I miss French brasseries. I remember eating at brasseries a lot with my father when I was a kid. It was simple: a đŸ„© and some đŸ„Ź and / or 🍟, all the time, for a cheap price. Even in France, there are less brasseries every day, and the concept hasn't travelled outside of France, or at least, I can't find it like I expect it. What you can find nowadays are chains of brasseries. That's not the same, cause they have wider menus, and they're more like steak houses, but it's the closest you can find if you don't have a brasserie around the corner. I've been a customer of one of them, Hippopotamus, for many years. And I've seen the prices rise and the quality getting lower over the years. Still, it's a good option, depending on what you wanna eat or if you're with a kid (they have cheap options for kids). I hadn't tried the one at Odysseum, which is a quite convenient option on my way back to Barcelona, so the other day I met there with a friend. I ordered a steak Ă  cheval, which is a burger (just the đŸ„©), with a 🍳 on top of it + some 🍟. I ordered the đŸ„© bleu, which is as close as possible to raw, but still hot. Not only did the đŸ„© come overcooked compared to what I ordered and in general, but the đŸ„š too was overcooked: the white part was crunchy and the yolk was dry. This kind of dish requires a perfectly cooked đŸ„š, cause the idea is to mix the yolk with the đŸ„©. Otherwise it makes no sense. The waiter offered to change it but I said no, cause I didn't want my friend to eat alone nor myself to eat alone afterwards. This dish should have never left the kitchen 😡 That's a pity cause I could feel the quality of the products was ok. The price was fair for France, €14 for a main course + a mini dessert and coffee. The dessert was a 🍓 soup that was very good, by the way 👍 Overall, that was not a great experience and I hope it was just a hiccup cause, as I said, Hippopotamus is a pretty convenient pitstop. Rapport qualitĂ© prix pas trĂšs intĂ©ressant, nous sommes plus cher que les Fast food classiques mais trĂšs similaire dans l’élaboration, quant Ă  la prĂ©sentation autant les assiettes en ardoise sont belles autant dans la prĂ©sentation nous avons l’impression que les plats sont vides. Une garniture pourrait amĂ©liorer le rendu.

The atmosphere and service were pretty good, even though the place was crowded. The beers are okay, especially the Blanche one. But the food was quite boring. The entrecîte was asked “a point” but served well cooked and very thin - could only eat it with lots of sauce. The ratatouille was pretty boring. The best thing were the fries! Rather rude and incompetent stuff. In an empty hall they do not allow to choose a small table for two people even tho there were a lot of empty not reserved tables. Incredibly slow service, we have waited almost an hour for a simple meal and they have messed up our order. And then, when we had almost no time to eat and asked for a takeout, stuff rolled their eyes at us and sounded very irritated. Venu ce midi, habituĂ© Ă  venir dans les hippo' de montpellier, le service Ă©tait trĂšs dĂ©cevant ce midi, arrivĂ© quelques minutes avant le rush, le serveur arrive et nous lui prĂ©cisons que nous n'avons pas choisis les boissons il repart mais revient que 15/20 minutes plus tard, nos boissons nous ont regardez sur le bar pendant plus de 10 minutes encore, une fois reçu as table les cocktails Ă©taient tout de mĂȘme bon, bravo. nous avons du rĂ©clamez les petite chips d'accueil malgrĂ© le faite qu'elles soit gratuites tout le monde autours de nous en avait mais pas nous (alors qu'ils Ă©taient en train de choisir leurs plats), pendant l'entrĂ©e nous avions reçu nos wings de poulet mangĂ© assez rapidement mais qui sont quand mĂȘme restĂ© plus de 30 minutes sur la tables alors que nous avions finit... le serveur est passez pas mal de fois Ă  cĂŽtĂ© de nous sans ce souciĂ©s de nous... quel dommage... nous avons du rĂ©clamez la suite sinon je pense que nous serions encore lĂ  bas Ă  cet heure ci... bref nous nous Ă©tions fixĂ© 1h30 pour mangez tranquillement pour aller au cinĂ©ma aprĂšs mais nous avons du nous dĂ©pĂȘchĂ© et mangez nos plats en 15 minute, pas le temps d'apprĂ©ciez nos plats... nous aurions bien laissez le reste de la monnaie mais je ne voulait pas que cela arrive Ă  d'autre personnes. Je prĂ©cise que nous Ă©tions installĂ©s a la table 205 arrivĂ© vers 12h, c'est n'est pas pour autant que le restaurent est mauvais, juste un mauvais accueil... nous reviendrons...
