During my recent visit to Ferdinánd Étterem, I was warmly welcomed and truly impressed by the service. The waiter looking after our table was not only attentive but also very charming, which immediately created a positive and relaxed atmosphere. Good service is such an important part of dining out, and here it really enhanced the overall experience.
For starters, I ordered the foie gras, which is one of my personal favourites. It was prepared well and had a nice flavour, though I must admit it wasn’t the very best I’ve ever had. Still, it was enjoyable and paired nicely with the accompaniments provided.
The real highlight of the meal, however, was the vargabéles, a traditional Hungarian dessert. It was absolutely divine — creamy, perfectly baked, and served with a touch of apricot jam that elevated the flavours beautifully. It’s not a dessert you find everywhere, and this version was by far one of the most delicious I’ve ever tried. Sweet, comforting, and unforgettable.
The restaurant itself has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for both casual dining and a special evening out. The menu features Hungarian classics, presented with care and a touch of refinement.
Overall, Ferdinánd Étterem offers friendly service and comforting dishes with a few standout highlights. While the foie gras could be improved, the vargabéles alone makes the visit worthwhile. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy Hungarian cuisine with a warm welcome and a truly memorable dessert.
There was also a company party taking place during our visit, which made the restaurant a little louder than usual. While it added some lively energy to the atmosphere, at times it felt a bit too noisy for a...
Read morefood average to flavourless, portion variable between medium and less, service mediocre: not particularly nice, or helpful, just answer the questions with bare minimum information, they didn't ask us if we wanted separate bill, then were upset that we wanted to pay separate, asked me cash or card - said card - she pulled out bill for cash, was devastated that i could not pay cash, and had to get manager woman to storno, said it's my fault, that she had to pull it out once again - it's better in my opinion to be prepared, precautions and make sure to ask properly - and for this service 10% is expected. well. All in all no one of the girls who we were appointed to seemed to be enjoying their doing their job (cook, waitress or manager), one man was actually nice to us, i think the beer tap wasn't properly washed but no one cared, and food is cooked to a mediocre level so that anyone can at least eat it - good place for foreigners to experience the Hungarian cornered, turn-toward-past and self-pity mentality inherited from the Monarchy times, but at a "taster" level, still bearable compared to some more traditional places ive experienced, and at an average price range. not particularly bad, not particularly good, can try...
Read moreLovely little Hungarian restaurant with friendly staff and good beer. I had a delicious plate of beef goulash stew with dumplings and pickles. The meat was plentiful and beautifully soft, the stew rich and flavourful. I find Hungarian dumplings a bit of an acquired taste, kind of like floury scrambled eggs. They aren’t my favourite, but they go pretty well with the stew. I’m a big gherkin fan so the pickled cucumber served with it went down well. The two heathens I dined with went for burgers… apparently they were very tasty. Not sure why you’d eat burger when you have the chance to try some local food but each to their own. The beers warrant a mention. There were seven on offer, six were variations of pilsner and ipa from the same brewery. The cherry beer was absolutely beautiful and went surprisingly well with the goulash. It was quiet when we went, hence why the 4* for atmosphere but it didn’t detract from the experience at all. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to eat somewhere more traditional. All in all, a 5 star experience, thank you...
