5-Star Delight at GURU Snack Bar in Mammut Center!
I stumbled upon GURU Snack Bar during a whirlwind shopping spree at Budapest's vibrant Mammut Center, and oh boy, am I glad I did! Tucked away in this bustling mall, GURU is a hidden gem that turns a quick snack break into a full-on flavor fiesta. The vibe? Super cool and casual—think colorful murals splashed across the walls, cozy high-top seating that invites you to linger, and that perfect hum of chatter from fellow shoppers unwinding over bites. It's the ideal spot for families, solo adventurers, or anyone needing a recharge without the fuss.
I dove straight into their legendary sandwich lineup (because who can resist a place called "Sandwich Guru"?). I went for the classic chicken breast wrap with guacamole, fresh veggies, and a zesty chipotle sauce—rolled up in a soft tortilla that didn't fall apart after the first bite. The portions? Massive! One wrap left me stuffed and smiling, with flavors so fresh and balanced it felt like a hug from Budapest itself. For dessert (because why not?), I couldn't skip the "Huge Pancakes" that live up to their name—fluffy stacks piled high with seasonal fruits, a drizzle of honey, and a side of creamy yogurt. Paired with one of their fresh-squeezed juices, it was pure bliss on a plate.
Service was the cherry on top: the staff zipped around with genuine smiles, offering spot-on recommendations and even chatting about local Budapest tips. Quick, friendly, and zero attitude—rare in a mall setting. Prices are fair for the quality (around $$), and it's veggie-friendly with plenty of options to mix and match.
If you're in Mammut Center, skip the generic food court and make a beeline for GURU. It's fresh, fun, and utterly addictive. I'll be back next visit—highly recommend for a positive...
Read moreWhere to begin. The staff is... inattentive, lazy. Takes ages to get their attention, are always on their phones or just chatting away while a line is forming of people wishing to order. Ordering for delivery isn't much better. How long should a delivery of a sandwich take from a place that is a 10 minute drive from your house? 30 minutes? Maybe 60 from a very busy place at a very busy time? Well try 90+ if you order from Guru. Based on how cold the food arrives, I believe it is completed within 30 minutes, but either the restaurant staff or the driver can't be asked to actually deliver it within reasonable time.
Oh and an extra little caveat on delivery: expect to be put into a more expensive distance bracket, as they do not drive from restaurant to your house in the most optimal path, but take specific roads, which in one case meant that instead of the driver taking the 3.6km path from Mammut, he took a 6+km one (still have no clue how he did that, we tried to figure out a path that would be that long without being purposefully long, we couldn't, so they most probably just want to cheat you out of money), meaning the delivery cost 890Ft instead of 0.
Avoid them if you have any...
Read moreMidiocre is the right word to describe Guru. I had an english breakfast: The eggs were ok, the sausage was slightly below average, the beans came right out of the can and they were microwaved. The toast was also nothing. It is not my first time here and i always went away with the impression that the ingredients are of low quality and the kitchen doesn't put much effort into their cooking.
The waiter wasn't too delightful either. Upon asking him for a recommendation, he did not give me any and i felt uncomfortable for asking. He wasn't rude but not very...
