Stayed at the Maison Bistro & Hotel on the Buda side for 5 nights. Fabulous location in the castle district area, 5 mins walk to the most amazing views of the whole of Pest by day and night, as its on a hill you never tire of the view, it is also near some spectacular buildings including the castle and castle museum so much history. So much to see on this side. However worth noting there are lots of steps to the bottom but don't fear there are lots of opportunities to pop on the bus or grab a bolt taxi which are a good price or the venicular to get back up. At the bottom of the hill you are directly onto chain Bridge. Once you cross you can explore Pest for its culture, museums, the famous line of shoes and the Parliament building not to mention lots of bars etc the options never end, It's vast. Ask the hotel for a map. Staff are very friendly and will show you the best places to visit. Maps are simple to read and help you manoeuvre around. Bolt taxi price too and from the airport to Hotel is between £27 and £32 each way as at todays date. Oct 25. The airport is small so again win win. The castle area is quiet shops close around 8pm. Bars and restaurants close up around 9.30 - 10pm not sure if it's because we went at this time of year, so check this. Its not rowdy just lovely. No hen doo/stag doos so avoid this area if you want to party! That's to do on the Pest side. The hotel will serve you a drink after 10pm if required if you are a guest. Breakfast is plentiful and fresh. Nothing is any trouble with this hotel. First class. Definitely would recommend and stay again. Thankyou to the amazing staff at this hotel you made our holiday very pleasurable with your amazing hospitality. UK 🇬🇧 Couple in 60's but...
Read moreI was about to give a five star until check out!! Room is good, food is good. HOWEVER, be very careful if you ask them to book a taxi for you! While check out, I have asked them to book a taxi for me to go to train station and without my permission and without even asking me if that is ok, they have secretly booked the most expensive taxi (Elit Taxi), which costs 20% more than it should be. And the meter jumped extremely fast and the driver had to stoped it half way through the journey, otherwise it probably will go over Ft8,000. And that is also probably because before I get on the taxi, I have asked how much this fancy taxi will cost, and he said Ft 5,000. I think the hotel staff will share commission from the Taxi company.
Another thing is also weird to me. I have asked the hotel staff to help me for getting my big luggage down when I check out, but the staff didn’t do it, instead, he gave my room number to the taxi driver and asked him to go upstairs to get my luggage down. I’m not sure about this behavior and have never experienced such thing before. I hope this is not a general practice in Budapest, because this is a privacy concern and safety...
Read moreMy colleagues and I stayed at the Maison Bistro & Hotel Budapest during our 3-day business trip to Budapest. The hotel was absolutely brilliant; everything about the hotel from the rooms, food and service, my colleagues and I could not fault it. The hotel offered some very unique features where each room were designed differently with space and comfort in mind. I would highly recommend visiting the downstairs wine cellar as this offers a glimpse of the hotels past. Barbara and her team certainly made myself and my colleagues very welcome and we were very well looked after.
It’s worth mentioning the location of the hotel is up in the castle; the hotel is ideally situated for the main tourist attraction of the castle where spectacular views of the local attractions can be seen, specially in the evening. The hotel is a 5/10 minutes in a taxi to the city centre.
I would highly recommend this hotel personally as it offers everything you can think of. As Budapest is a regular visit; our company has made the Maison Bistro & Hotel our choice of accommodation...
