The hotel is beautiful. Located on the buda hilly area. reaching there is easy, if you know how to do Buda's public transport. This is my caution tale. I googled the public transit from railway station and google told me to take bus 5 and then a 6 minute walk ( 350 metres). I followed the route and when the bus dropped me to my destination, I was surprised by what came on next, and believe me, it wasnt pleasant. the 6 minute walk was ALL UPHILL, almost 400 stairs. well i couldnt take the stairs with my big suitcase, so i walked on STEEP uphill roads to reach my hotel and by the time i reached there, i was all drenched in sweat and tired. so instead , take bus 16 / 16A / 116 / 916. drops in the back of the hotel.
otherwise hotel was nice and cozy. nice little room , they had joined 2 mattress together to make a king bed but gave us 2 separate comforters. I dont know why. The room was beautifully organized with a lot of space. THE BATHROOM WAS 6 STARS out of 5. extremely beautiful, fancy, and clean. so clean that there was a sterile tape on the toilet seat with sparkling green water in the toilet. and nice smelling with good fragrance soaps, you will want to shower. there is an attached restaurant that provides free breakfast and gives 15 % discount for lunch and dinner. the food was good. the housekeeping service was a bit lazy, forgot to replace coffee and sugar and fresh soaps. they booked a pre paid taxi for me to the airport , that was a plus point. the hotel is minutes walk to Buda Castle and Fisherman's bastion, that is the best part ( that is if you want to walk, otherwise good bus service). at night , you can enter through the garage using your key card, so that you dont have to walk all across the hill to the front...
Read moreI recently stayed at Hotel Castle Garden for three nights. This hotel is perfectly located, on a quiet street near a gateway to the Fishermen's Bastion. This hotel offers spacious and spotless rooms with all the basic facilities required, including excellent toiletries, a kettle, a safe, air conditioning and a minibar. Wi-Fi works excellently and the staff is customer-friendly. In the morning, guests can start the day with an excellent breakfast buffet, which offers a wide and varied selection including some hot options in a cosy setting.
I had a pleasant stay, but a few drawbacks prevent me from awarding five stars. Indeed, a renovation of the room is imminent. The main work points are the A/C, from which hardly any cold air came and the limited number of power outlets. Furthermore, I found the room particularly dark, the mattresses uncomfortably soft and the shower was in the bathtub, which is my least favourite arrangement due to the high step. A non-slip mat in the bath would consequently be appreciated.
As already touched upon, Hotel Castle Garden enjoys an excellent location. The important public transport hub Széll Kálmán tér is just a few minutes' walk away and from there the metro takes you to the centre of Pest in only a few minutes. The Fishermen's Bastion and Buda Castle can be reached on foot. But those who have difficulty walking can always use the bus, as the Mátray utca stop is located at the back...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is very convenient, just a few minute walk to the Metro and tram lines and also just a few minutes from the Castle district. I stayed for 5 nights. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the hotel was severely lacking. On the first day I found long black hairs in the bathroom but didn't think much of it. The broken state of the shower was more disturbing. One morning we accidentally dropped a water glass in the bathroom and picked up all the big pieces. We told the front desk that there are small glass pieces on the floor to make sure the cleaners wouldn't hurt themselves. That evening when we came back the glass was replaced but nothing had been cleaned. The same glass splinters still were on the floor, the sink was still dirty, soap/shampoo not refilled, beds not made, etc. When we asked the front desk to have someone come by to vacuum the bathroom floor they could only find a broom and brushed it to the side. I then used a towel to sweep the floor again to make sure there was no glass left to find the white towel now looking like a used rag. I guess it has been a while since the tile floor was actually cleaned wet. At the end of our 5 night stay we still had the same message on our mirror that a previous guest wrote on it with their fingers.
If it hadn't been for the lack of cleaning we would have given the hotel at...
