An Unforgettable Culinary Experience in Budapest!
My recent visit to this Indian restaurant was an absolute highlight of my trip to Budapest. From start to finish, every aspect of the experience was exceptional.
First and foremost, the food was divine. Each dish was a masterpiece of authentic flavors and aromatic spices. It was clear that the chefs use traditional techniques and high-quality ingredients. Every bite was a delight, truly capturing the heart of Indian cuisine.
The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. It's beautifully decorated, striking a perfect balance between elegant and cozy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal place for a romantic dinner, a special celebration, or even a relaxed meal with friends.
What truly elevated the evening was the incredibly polite and welcoming staff. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared that we had a great time. A special shout-out is deserved for Aizah and Mahmud. Their hospitality was outstanding; they were friendly, offered great recommendations, and made us feel like valued guests. Please let them know their hard work is truly appreciated!
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. If you are in Budapest and craving incredible Indian food served in a beautiful setting by a wonderful team, look no further. I will definitely be coming back again on my next visit to the city
Second Visit
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Our initial experience was so positive that we made a deliberate choice to dine here again before leaving Budapest. This place is a credit to the hospitality industry. Polly is an exceptional hostess—warm, engaging, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring her guests have a perfect evening. The lovely lady greeting guests at the door also deserves a special mention for her charming and friendly manner. The food is, without exaggeration, divine; each dish was a flavour explosion. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for two...
Read moreIndian Palate has been my go to place whenever I am in the mood for Indian food in Budapest. After trying out several other hole in the wall to big name joints across the city, I can confidently say this comes on top - not just for the food, but for their impeccable service, sophisticated ambience, and not to forget - a mini history and cultural learning experience as well. I understand they have live Indian music on the weekends but haven't experienced it so far. Some day for sure....
In terms of cuisine, it is predominantly North-Indian with a smattering of regional dishes, which is not surprising given the owner's roots in Delhi. Nothing wrong with that, and you do get most of the popular dishes that one expects from an overseas establishment like this.
My personal favorites from the menu are
Appetizers: Lamb Chops (not to be missed), Tandoori Prawns, Murgh Malai Tikka and Potli Samosa Chaat (all time favorite) Mains: Dal Jaipuri, Pindi Chhole, Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken and Prawn Malabari Curry Desserts: Zafrani Phirni and Pista Kulfi They have a good variety of breads and I have tried almost all of them. Not a rice person, so no comments on that. But my friends and colleagues say they liked the Biryani too.
Finally coming to the serving staff. For the past few visits, we had Ms. Marjan serving our table. On most occasions, I have gone there with a rather large group of 10 plus with a mix of Indian and Hungarian colleagues. As one may expect, handling such large groups with their own individual tastes and preferences is not easy. Marjan does it with a smile and always makes us feel welcome. I am thoroughly impressed with her professionalism, attentiveness and personal touch that she brings. Thank you Marjan for keeping up with our demands and always being there for us.
As I write this review, I am already looking forward to my...
Read moreSome days ago I saw the advertisement of this restaurant near the M2 underground station and decided to give it a try.
I was astonished as soon as I entered the gate by the luxurious decorations. The photos hanging on the wall almost made me believe that I was dining in a Palace.
The staffs are quite friendly. They explained to me about the dishes, although it's quite a pity that you can only choose 2 kinds of main dishes to taste, as welk as for other dishes. In this way, it's a bit unfair for those who have zero idea of what those dishes are.
A hot lentil soup was served first. Then comes the roast Malay chicken and Roti as appetiser. Although the vegetable salad was a bit salty, the roast chicken is still pretty successful.
I ordered lamb korma and goan prawn curry for main dish. Both taste authentic and are absolutely delicious, however, there wasn't much meat inside. They were basically like cream soup rather than stew. As for the lamb rice, it went well with any of the siders. Speaking about that, i do like to point out that the black bean stew was salty.
To my surprise the dessert was served together in the set. It was comfortably sweet, since the milky flavour of the fried ball really balanced it out. Besides that, the mango lassi was also a success.
As for the price, i found out that a 10% service fee would also be charged only after i sat down at the table. This way, a lunch all you can eat meal is 5500 Ft instead of 5000 on the advertisement. I later checked the official website, they didn't mention it either.
The staffs are quite nice and well trained . They were tidy, and they neither tended to stand too close to you, nor to stair at you, although I could hear them talking to each as if they were angry.
Overall it was a nice experience, but maybe a lunch menu would be better for me, and my stomach...
