One of the worst meals I’ve ever been served. I popped in for a quick dinner and ordered Vietnamese spring rolls and a beef pho. The spring rolls came out first – absolutely drenched in oil and utterly grim. They were a dark brown colour, which suggested they’d either been overcooked or fried in oil that hadn’t been changed in ages. I was already put off but decided not to say anything just yet.
A few minutes later, the pho arrived. I had a go, and honestly – the noodles were so soggy and overdone they fell apart the moment I tried to pick them up with chopsticks. Completely inedible. I called over a waiter who looked totally baffled and didn’t speak either Hungarian or English. Eventually, an older gentleman came over who spoke some Hungarian. I explained that it was a joke to be serving food like this. The spring rolls were clearly overcooked and the pho noodles were falling to bits – both were disgusting.
He apologised and said they’d run out of their usual pho noodles, so had used a different kind. He asked if I wanted to swap it for something else, but I declined and asked for a refund. He refunded me for the pho, but not for the spring rolls – which I hadn’t even touched because they looked so vile. I couldn’t be bothered to argue, so I just paid and left.
All in all, a dreadful experience – poor food, poor communication, and...
Read moreIt was cold, and winter, and 21.20. Me and my wife wanted to eat pho and because I like to discover new places, and the only place according to Google maps 'pho' search around us was Pho 74. Ten minutes later we have arrived to a little room with 7-6 tables, two shop assistants, and three guests. We ordered pho bo, and the soup arrived in 10 minutes. The broth was salty which did not enabled for me to feel the taste of other ingredients well, and I missed the secret weapon of Vietnamese pho recipes: the garlic vinegar (dam toi) from the table. The beef slices were a little thick, and tasty. The staff was kind, and friendly, and asked us before leaving about our experience, and always smiled. I think this is a good place to a eat pho at a winter night. I will go back and check other meals...

Ate here on New Year’s Day for lunch and it was a full house. Almost 30 minute wait for food for everyone in before and after us.
Waiter kept bringing wrong foods to the wrong tables the whole time.
#6 standard beef pho had a very strong liver taste and not much else. Never had this flavour before neither in Hanoi nor North America. Beef is very, very tender though.
Wife ordered the spicy noodle, received a non-spicy pho instead. Too long of a wait to ask for a remake. Broth itself is also not the Vietnamese / North American flavours we were used to. Lacks depth.
The spring rolls were pretty good, they use the proper rice paper and not the wonton paper like other non-traditional places.
Overall not...
