Hello Hostel — Hotel in Budapest

I feel bad having to write this but the truth is the truth. This hostel was the worst experience I have every had staying anywhere (Hostel, Hotel, or Airbnb). dirty common area 4 sinks and 3 of them were very slow draining 3 showers but one was “out of order” yet staff were showering in them, one showers door didn’t lock, and the other shower had terrible mold at the bottom of the curtain. No breakfast was provided in the morning like the listing said there would be my girlfriend is of colour and the night staff woman argued with us saying she couldn’t stay here, after repeating arguein she let us stay but instead of giving us 2 beds like we booked in advance she gave us one single bunk bed at the top and I’m 6’6 and she is 5’11. the bed wasn’t made and she just threw the bedding sheet up there and had us make it. only 1 garbage pillow for 2 of us no English spoken from the night staff 2 toilets for over 28 people there including staff using them. in the middle of the night a fight broke out between guests and went on for 20 to 30 minutes and it was very loud with lots of swearing. the wifi didn’t work in the rooms only in the main lobby. a guy staying in our room told us he was robbed the night before of his clothes. our lock bib that the hostel provided was broken so we felt very uneasy about leaving of stuff in them. towels for a fee. Even hand towels are washing your hands weren’t provided wash and dryer provided for a FEE garbages were full and no emptied mattress was hard and not comfortable I found that there was a odd creepy man staying there and even as a big guy I felt uneasy with him there and it didn’t look good on the hostel. the pictures the hostel has on different sites are inaccurate and it’s not what the hostel looks like now a days.

Not sure if the hostel is legally not allowed to put a more visible signboard but it was very difficult to locate the hostel at night. It took me a solid 20 minutes to locate the entrance and another 15 minutes to locate the hostel itself. I went up to a wrong apartment building once I entered the courtyard and had to ask a resident for direction. Although, had it been during the day, it might have been way easier.||||Moving on to the service, The hostel staff were amazing, specially the people behind the reception were very helpful and jolly. They made the environment of the hostel very homely. I was nicely explained the hostel policy and rules during check-in and given the passcode to get in. Please ensure to note the passcode carefully to get in the building during the night as they don't have any night porters. For late check-ins please inform the hostel at least a day before arriving and they will send you the instructions.||||Toilets, shower and rooms could have been a little more cleaner. ||||A small lounge/kitchen/dining area is available for guests to use and it is equipped with basic kitchen appliances, cutleries, sofa and a dining table.||||Clean towels can also be borrowed for a fee. ||||The area is very lively and has lots of restaurants around. Basilica is only about a 15-20 minutes walk. The nearest station is Oktogon if you don't fancy walking.||||The bunkbed was okay and has curtains for privacy. The place seemed to be ok, not badly situated (though not the best), looked tidy, but.||there were BUGS in the bed. So, you know, it really spoils the stay a bit.||But a worse thing was the owner's attitude: when i (as well as other guests at the same moment, even from different rooms) asked for a refund or at least a discount, i got a response that the owner was not there and is not going to appear at all, and is not responding the call and no one else have the rights to take the responsibility (isn't it so in a real world that if you are going from the city, you are normally supposed to leave someone in charge?). Great. ||So i walked away saying that i will come by the end of the day to see her response, but after the whole day she (the owner) responded to the receptionist only with a facebook message allowing to give me only 10% discount. 10% for bugs in a hostel that can't really offer anything else than a stay (not a party hostel, not a great atmosphere, not such a great location)? And of course she was not responding any other calls. Very nicely. I left half of the price only (and only because i really pitied the employee there, who said that it will be taken from his pocket if he lets me go) and walked away.||With another attitude I wouldn't mention the problem as they promised to fix it soon (and probably they will), but not after such a nice communication with the...
