Our family lunch became nauseating when we found a disgusting, long blonde hair at the bottom of one of the dishes- the Roast duck breast with sheep cheese strapachka. We made the waiter aware of this, who immediately denied that this was from the chef or restaurant staff. He was very defensive of this finding, but offered to replace the dish with a cheaper one (Chicken paprika). We declined as there was already too much food on the table, at which point we were told we wouldn't have to pay for this dish due to this repulsive finding. We agreed.
However, when the bill came, the waiter informed us that he had spoken to the boss and insisted we paid the full bill because we did not inform them at the start of the meal- despite the fact that the long hair was at the bottom of the dish, hidden in the dumplings. We were rushing for a bus to the airport, and forced to pay for the disgusting dish when it was agreed on that this should have been compensated for. The boss of the restaurant sat in a corner, avoiding eye contact during this incident.
We were spoken to with disrespect, as though we had planted the hair in our meal. We all had dark hair. I would avoid this restaurant at all cost, with average food and appalling, awful customer service. Completely...
Read moreNearly excellent, particularly for Hungary This is one of the few places you'll find in Hungary where the service was optimal. Right from the beginning they were very friendly and accommodating and I was impressed that they didn't charge me for an extra meal when I sent back something because it was too dry. That like, never happens in this country.
I started with the Goulash which was excellent. Maybe not quite as good as my own, ha ha, but exceptional nonetheless. I then ordered the Paprikas Csirke, but had to send it back because as I already mentioned the chicken was too dry. So dry in fact, that I was still chewing it after they took my plate away. I then ordered toros palacsinta for dessert and was not disappointed! That was also quite good, and while my friends said their salad was not the best in the world, I still maintain that the food was delicious especially considering how low the prices were for Budapest.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that it was a really small hole-in-the-wall kind of place, with only a few people inside, and with dimmer lighting to give it a cozy feel.
I would definitely recommend this place not just to tourists but also locals, and would love to return the next time I'm...
Read moreGood day, I had a chance to visit this restaurant many time during my visits in Budapest. It has very good Hungarian food, but also if you are with kids they are able to offer pizza (I recommend Hungarian one) and burgers. I always (I swore) take chicken paprikas, as it is one of the best in the town- a simple recepis with not those extra "new wave" idea, so i do recommend. It is definitely place to visit with family or friends. Definitely not a place for business meeting. Inside there is few tabel, so I recommend to make reservation unless there are also tables outside. Remember that som Betim ago there were also few tabel in inner yard/garden what was honestly very nice and relaxing area. Now, the tabel are outside at the front of the restaurant, what is not so comfortable, as from one side you have a street (not very busy but regular car traffic) and on the other side of tabel area you have sidewalk and plenty of tourist crossing next to your dish :)- but it is the only disadvantage. I recommend the venue and would give at least 4.5...
