We visited the restaurant on the 9th of October for a dinner with my friend to catch up over a nice meal.
The restaurant itself lacks the atmosphere. It has high ceilings, very basic restaurant furniture, and no background music at all.
The waitresses are dressed in traditional Indian dresses, but I found them somewhat tasteless (I don't want to look at the bellies of the waiting staff while in a restaurant)
The food itself has it's ups and downs. Our starters were average, the main course, the side dishes, and the dessert were really great.
Our whole evening was however completely ruined at the billing stage. Upon asking for the check my friend noticed that he was charged 18 Euros (the whole bill was 60 Euros) for two empty paper thin dosas, that the asked as a side dish.
These were charged at full price, which we found over the top. We asked for clarification from the waitress, whe confirmed the price is correct. At ti stage we requested the "manager" to see us.
We again explained our disbelief that two empty dosas would be charge at 20 Euros, and mentioned that last week when my friend visited they were charged as sides. At this stage the "manager" explained that the mistake was theirs, and we should pay for the wrongly charged item from last week as well!!!
As you can imagine the gentleman lacked any kind of emotional intelligence or lack of common sense, as we would have been happy with any of the following rational outcomes: a., Pay two side dishes (like a naan or something) instead b. Pay for both items with a little discount c. Pay for one of the items Instead of offering any of these solutions (what you would expect for a decently trained restaurant manager) the guy just got more and more agitated.
As we could see there is no reasoning with him and he would rather loose a re customer than satisfy one we paid + and left.
It's a shame that a place that has such a great kitchen looses customers because of an incompetent manager (who by the way wasn't seen the whole evening, hasn't greeted or interacted with any customers.)
To sum it up you are better heading to other Indian restaurants in town, where staff is friendly, atmosphere is better, and you are not ripped off for a...
Read moreThis may be the best Indian food I've ever had so far. For delivery via the restaurant's website, my friend ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and I ordered the Chicken 65 due to it having the word 'legendary' in the description and chili peppers next to the name. Legendary is an accurate description because it was definitely delicious and spicy af, which I like. I sampled some of my friend's Paneer Tikka Masala and I felt that it was the possibly the best Tikka Masala flavor I have ever tasted. It even was slightly spicy! :D Furthermore, the cheese didn't have a rubbery texture that I have grown accustomed to when order vegetarian dishes from Indian restaurants in the US; the paneer at this restaurant truly tasted like cheese, where it became stringy when biting into it and had the consistency of high quality cheese.
We also ordered two orders of garlic naan, which came with eight slices of naan, which exceeded my expectations because orders of naan in the US are usually just two to four slices. Additionally, we ordered the samosas, which were definitely the best samosas I've ever had too. They were quite large, and the deep fried dough was top quality. The filling itself was slightly spicy and extremely pleasing to the palate. Even the sauces that came with samosas were absolutely delicious.
My only complaint was that the price was kind of high, but in hindsight, I believe the quality of the food was well worth the price. Moreover, I was concerned that they were not on Wolt or Food Panda, but the delivery was prompt & the delivery man was courteous and professional.
Tal Majal indian restaurants, are they a chain? Because in 2018 I thought I had the best Indian food at Indisches Restaurant Taj-Majal in Munich until I come...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Budapest, I had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant with my office team. I must say, the overall experience was exceptional. The ambience of the place was delightful, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The service provided by the staff was top-notch, with their attentiveness and professionalism adding to the overall dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. The culinary offerings at this restaurant were truly impressive. Each dish we ordered was carefully prepared and bursting with flavors. I particularly appreciated the variety of options available, including vegetarian and Jain food choices. As a vegetarian myself, it was refreshing to see a restaurant that caters to different dietary preferences and requirements.
One aspect that made this dining experience even more memorable was the presence of Indian music playing softly in the background. It added a touch of familiarity and transported us to a different cultural realm. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to see the support staff dressed in traditional Indian attire. Their dedication to creating an authentic and immersive dining experience was evident.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Budapest. The combination of great ambience, excellent service, delicious food, and attention to detail truly sets it apart. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a team dinner or simply want to savor some delectable Indian cuisine, this restaurant is...
