In my opinion, Eur Indiai is the best Indian restaurant in the downtown area. I tried 5-6 Indian places in Pest and a few in Buda, this was my favorite. I have eaten at this place more than a dozen times, never had a bad meal. Tinu’s, down the street a bit, is usually more crowded but it’s all steam tray. It ain’t bad but not as good as Eur Indiai!
Everything is made to order (except, obviously, rice; samosas; and a couple other items that would take too long). I like mine spicy, they were happy to accommodate. You can get half and half orders too, for a slight up charge. Remember, it’s cooked to order, they have to cook two different dishes!
My favorite dish is the extra spicy vindaloo but there are lots of good ones if you don’t like it that hot. The chicken tikka is very good, great naan, and saag paneer is also a favorite.
It’s inexpensive, there’s a photo of the menu google maps! I usually paid 1500 to 2000 huf per meal.
The owner and the cook (his nephew) are both super friendly and speak English.

Read moreMy absolute favourite Indian restaurant in Budapest – I can't recommend it enough! The food is consistently outstanding, and the owners and staff are some of the nicest, most welcoming people I've met. I ended up coming back about seven times in just over a week, and each visit was better than the last. Every dish I tried – Palak Paneer, Paneer Vindaloo, Dal Tadka – was absolutely fantastic. Honestly, it’s hard to pick a favourite!
They truly deserve all the praise they get, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

One thing to keep in mind: Make sure to arrive before 20:30, as after that, they’re only open...
Read moreThe food was delicious, although I have had better elsewhere. However, the service left much to be desired.
Firstly, the staff were very unfriendly. We initially addressed them in English but then my girlfriend switched to Hungarian. The waitress seemed irritated and stressed, asking us which language we spoke and if we could communicate in English. This abrupt change in attitude was off-putting.
Furthermore, even though I gave a tip, the owner was not particularly friendly during the payment process. It seemed as though he was not appreciative of the gesture.
In conclusion, while the food at Eur Indiai Restaurant was tasty, the overall experience was marred by the unfriendly service and lack of hospitality. I would recommend considering other options for a more pleasant...
