I wouldn't eat here again. Service was slow and very inattentive. Waiter forgot milk for tea, tea arrived only tepid. This was after telling us that the kitchen was very busy and tea would take½ hour to make. Tandoori platter was overpriced at 23 euro, only contained chicken, no lamb tandoori, I have eaten many tandoori platters over the years in many restaurants and all had lamb items. Vegetarian spring roll arrived wrapped in foil with no garnishes of any kind and cold, looked like someones left over lunch, also it contained chicken, my partner ate only a bite, left the rest. Presentation was, overall, very poor. Had a Kama Sutra beer, was charged for a Cobra. Ordered a keema naan, was more like a stuffed paratha, naan should be fluffy and seared from the tandoori. Mango laasi drink was nice. Overall a very disappointing experience, food was mediocre and poorly served and presented. I wouldn't bother going here. I refused to pay the service charge and had the tea removed from the bill. I was told the service charge couldn't be removed! I just recalculated the bill paid in cash and left! Avoid this restaurant, there must be better Indian restaurants in Budapest. Just to add to my review 24 hrs after eating here I was being violently sick. Thank you to Virasat Indian restaurant for their reply to my comment. I can assure them, and anyone else reading my review, that it was not written in advance. I was a weekend visitor to Budapest, a city I had never been to before. I had no foreknowledge of this restaurant. I didn't even read the reviews (Oh, how I wish I had!) The comment and its implied attack on my integrity is indicative of the level of service you will receive at this...
Read moreBeing a foodie person, I would supposedly say that I really had a bad experience with this restaurant. In the initial minutes, we were informed that food will be delivered late and we were okay with that. Later food was served and it was good, but we ordered few items again for which we were told that it will be served in sometime, but unfortunately that sometime turned into 35 to 40 minutes and after asking about the food, we were told that it will be served in 5 minutes which was served after 20 minutes. By the time we had our last served food, it was already 11:20 and the food served was 10 times worst than the first serve. We were not in mood to debate at 11:10 about the food which tasted really bad. We clearly don't know that why the service was this much late as there were not many people till the last minute. I would advice to be more precise with the time with customer as it takes a lot to have patience to wait for the food when you are already in the...
Read moreWe had a great dinner tonight at Virasat! We had the lamb Tikka masala, 1/2 tandoori chicken with mint yogurt sauce, basmati rice, rice with the veggies and fruit, regular naan and garlic naan. It was great! Honestly my favorite was the rice with veggies and fruit, it tasted as beautiful as it looked, check out the colors in the photo! I did not try the tandoori chicken but my husband did (who is very picky) and he said it was excellent, it was so lovely and arrived all sizzling on an iron skillet. Get the garlic naan and dip it in that gorgeous green mint sauce, so good! The flavor of the lamb Tikka masala was delicious and earthy, I loved it. I also had a gin and tonic and they served it in this huge glass, it was gigantic!! The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful and elegant. Servers do speak English as well. Highly recommended! We will go...
