I like Why Not. It's a nice bar, the service is quite good and the drinks are also good. The ambience is quite good considering the space. The karaoke nights are good because most people can actually sing, they're not pros but it's never awful. This is my go-to bar to go get a drink and enjoy the river or just be "at home". Pros: Good drink Very good service and overall friendly staff Good music (80'/90'/00'/10'/20') Good location Friendly and open vibe Open all day and until 3/4 am Family friendly vibe Huge screen to see the music videos Full of locals and foreigners alike
Cons: A bit small (book your table) The service is very good but I've perceived a bit of a diva attitude (did i do something to bug you?) The bathroom could be a little cleaner
I've been there a bunch of times and will continue to go. I haven't been here for long but it already kind of feels like home.
Well done guys and thanks...
Read moreA touristy café at daytime, a flamboyant bar at night. It's in a central location, easy to reach, close to main sights and has a beautiful panorama when the sun sets. Outdoor seating is available until 22:00 (or 23:00). Coffee is okay, beer and wine selection is fine and food is available. You don't go there for the culinary experience - it's drink and food. Prices are average - actually a bit lower than expected in the heart of Budapest - and there is a 2 for 1 shot offer every day. Staff is very kind of course. So you'd say it's a nice average joint, why the five stars. I love Why not because it's a meeting point, a haven and I have plenty of good memories being there. It's a good place to start, to spend or to finish your night. They have regular events like karaoke, bingo/quiz and drag show (no, it's not like you expect, Budapest is not Berlin and this is not RuPaul's either). Check out...
Read moreI like this place BUT, I can’t give them a 5 star if they don’t point out that there is a 10 % service charge already on the bill. My fault completely. Tipping is based on service and it is bad service to not advise the customer that there is already 10 % on the bill. Good polite friendly service. I’m Canadian and don’t speak Hungarian. It’s very comforting that they speak English very well. I usually tip 15-20%. Today it was inadvertently 30%. These actions today are completely opposite of Ruszwurm Cukrászda pastry shop. The server they are specifically stopped me and would not accept any extra money. Live and learn. I’ll take the blame for paying too much. Why Not doesn’t earn 5 stars due to lack of customer service in that respect. I’ll be back, and never tip more than the service...
