At the airport we bought tickets for the airport bus at the tourist counter. Actually we bought only one, because my mum is over 65 years old. ALL public transport is free for her. The bus is going super often, so we did not wait long. The first stop is Kálvin tér, from there you walk around 12 min to the hotel. That was really very easy and very cheap compared to taking a taxi. At Lion Prémium Hotel we had the warmest welcome ever. The lady was super nice, she explained all the facilities, offered help with information about sight seeing or booking tours. We also received a welcome booklet with plenty flyers of attractions and tours. You also receive a paper with the internet code and the code for the entrance door to the street. The reception is occupied 24/7, but they still have a code for the first door. The lady even brought us to the room and explained some more. The room was spacious, quiet and very clean. It has a flat screen, a mini bar, water kettle, coffee machine (tea and coffee is free) and a safe. There is also plenty of storage space. The bathroom was nice, good shower and proper working hair dryer. All over we felt very comfortable for the whole stay! By the way, the WiFi was really fast and strong in our room. All staff from reception were nice and friendly and helped with information and also they printed our boarding passes. That was great. The rate did not have breakfast included, but dinner. This you can take at the restaurant Fatál, which is in the same building. When you show the vouchers, you will get a special menu. This menu has a choice of main courses (also some Hungarian meals) and desserts and this "hotel guest" menu does not show prices. With the voucher you can choose a main course, a dessert and a drink. The food was good and enough. The service was friendly. On the first evening you receive also a welcome drink voucher. We took a Pálinka with our dessert. The hotel itself is located in the Center, close to public transport and you can walk easily to some attractions and the Danube. Since our flight was early morning, we asked the reception to book a taxi to the airport. They have a fix price of 27 Euro. Taxi was punctual. All over our stay at the Lion Prémium...

Small mini bar fridge in room. |Felt very secure with a code to get in at street level and again at the bottom of the stairs. 24 hr reception looked after our room key when we went out.|Is in a typical block of flats built around a courtyard.|Breakfast room downstairs with good selection. Some cooked ( eggs bacon frankfurter sausages and veg) as well as cheese selection of breads fruit and yogourt.|We chose it for the location, very central, near transport and were a bit concerned that it might be noisy but even tough we were overlooking the street it was not unduly loud. Perhaps we might have been less lucky at weekends or more high season but for us the value and convenience would have outweighed...
Read moreA good base for a stay in Budapest. Clean, good size room with a fridge, kettle, coffee maker, safe and toiletries. There were also two complimentary bottles of water. Comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast, including cereals, breads, fruit, eggs/omelettes, croissants, tea, coffee and juice. ||||If you need snacks/water, there is an Aldi in the Central Market Hall, just a few minutes walk away. ||||Be aware that you enter the hotel from the main street (which has lots of shops and restaurants on it), and there is a climb up some steps to get to the reception desk and rooms. ||||Good transport links near the hotel. We used the 72 hour travel pass, which was very economical and got us on the trams, buses and metro. If coming from the airport, take Bus 200E and then the metro M3 to Kalvin Ter. Then a short walk from...
