If I would have to summarize the experience I had in this restaurant and describe it it would be this: one of the best places I've had the honour to go to. Seriously, if you're visiting Budapest, even just for a day, take your time, make a detour even, and have a nice dinner and an amazing experience. Where should I start? The location is really great - it's near the Danube and you can see the Liberty Statue (Szabadság szobor) on the Gellért Hill (Gellérthegy) and the two beautiful bridges, Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd), to the right of the hill and Liberty Bridge (Szabadság Híd), to the left. The view is pretty nice and the restaurant is easily accessible by tram (tram 2), by metro (from Kálvin tér or from Fővám tér) or even by foot, if you're coming from the city center or from a shopping spree on Váci street. When you get there you are greeted by highly trained and very polite staff. Usually there's at least two really amiable people that are in charge of helping customers to get seated fast. It's highly recommended to make a booking first because the place is packed every day and night. The staff speaks English and different other languages. They always ask where you are from and then try and greet or compliment you in your own tongue. They're always ready to help you with a nice meal and wine recommendation and those are usually spot on, so don't hesitate to ask for help if you're feeling overwhelmed by their menu. Speaking of, the menu is rather large and consists mostly of Greek produce, which it should. We've been here countless times, on different occasions (birthdays, engangement party, family events etc.) and, to this day, I still haven't exhausted the vegetarian/vegan dishes. You'll always start with a small dish consisting of some delicate just-baked home bread and some hummus. As a vegetarian, I would strongly recommend bujurdi, a divine cooked dish with cheese and vegetable, or, if you're a meat lover, basically anything with meat or fish will do. Ultimately, anything you decide to order (be it soup, appetizer, salad etc.) will be scrumptious. The desserts are exquisite too; you can pick from a wide variety, but, subjectively, I would start with the one that contains passion fruit. There's a large assortment of drinks, from beeers (even Greek ones), wines and spirits to delicious tea and coffee. If you're not sure what to try, have a lemonade - it's really tasty! At the end of the meal you might be greeted by Maître D' (sometimes in your own language too). Either way, you will get a small dessert (like fruits or some tiny cakes) and the ladies will also be given a flower as a token of the restaurant's gratitude. The place is huge (they have outside seating in the warmer days plus 3 floors), spotless, traditionally decorated, with a Mediterranean feel, but it still manages to remain personal, private and unique. The bathrooms are one of the classiest I've seen in Budapest. They're immaculate and modern, and in the men's room you can even find shaving items for individual use. Overall the experience is amazing, the food is one of the best we've eaten and the staff is attentive and polite. We've been living here for the last three years and we've experience a great deal of places, but Dionysos Taverna is our favorite...

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Budapest, look no further than Dionysos Taverna. This place is a true gem, combining incredible service, generous portions, and jaw-dropping design that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a luxurious Greek paradise.

The moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. Their warmth and attentiveness were unmatched—they were always on hand to ensure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. They were also happy to recommend dishes and shared their passion for the cuisine, which added a lovely personal touch to the meal.

The food? Simply outstanding! The portions are huge, so come hungry. We started with a platter of appetizers—hummus, tzatziki, saganaki, and fresh pita—all bursting with flavor. For the main course, I had the gyro platter, which was not only delicious but easily enough for two. Every dish was perfectly seasoned and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

As for the design of the restaurant—it’s nothing short of spectacular. Think whitewashed walls, rustic wooden accents, and vibrant pops of blue that instantly transport you to the Greek islands. The attention to detail in the decor, from the lighting to the table settings, creates a stunning and immersive atmosphere that elevates the entire dining experience.

This is more than just a meal—it’s a feast for the senses. I can’t recommend [Restaurant Name] enough. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Budapest, this place is a must-visit for authentic Greek flavors, outstanding service, and an...

As soon as I entered this traditional Greek taverna, I was transported to Greece with the beautiful decor and cozy ambiance. Dionysos Taverna in Budapest is a place where you can enjoy authentic Greek cuisine and hospitality.

The service at Dionysos Taverna was exceptional, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and well-presented, with generous portions. I particularly enjoyed the tzatziki, moussaka, and the fresh seafood. The quality of the food was top-notch, and I could tell that only the freshest ingredients were used.

One unique feature of Dionysos Taverna is the live Greek music and dancing, which adds to the overall experience and makes it a great spot for a night out with friends or family.

However, I would deduct half a star for the pricing, as the prices were a bit steep compared to other Greek restaurants in the area. Another half star was deducted for the slightly uncomfortable seating arrangement, which could be improved for a more comfortable dining experience.

To improve, the restaurant could consider offering more affordable options on the menu to attract a wider range of customers. Additionally, upgrading the seating arrangement could provide a more comfortable dining experience.

Overall, I recommend Dionysos Taverna for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine and experience Greek hospitality in Budapest. The unique ambiance, delicious food, and friendly service make it a must-visit spot. I would definitely return, as the experience left me with a...

Whenever we are in Budapest we come here for food. Exellent place with devine atmosphere and friendly staff. It gets crowded so the service may be slow but the food is very delicious. I traveled alot around Greece and I can honestly say that this place is better than some Greek restaurants in Greece. The interior is done to look like Santoriny, outside sitting area is available but only with rearrvations. Reservations in general during dinner time are recommended. The music us alway Greek and it makes you feel just like you are in Greece. We always order Caciki and Greek salad as starters and they were always consistently gooda and fresh. I would reccomend Afrodita salad here, it smells and tests kind of sweet and it is a perfect summer lunch or dinner. On a side note it looks much smaller on the pictures than in real. Portions here in general are generous. They have good selection of refreahing nonalcoholic drinks as well as alcoholic. What you see in a picture is an elderberry sparkling juice and it was amazing. Kind of strange remark to make about the restaurants but the toilets here are amazing. After the meal all the ladies get a flower as a gift. No need to tip as tips and tax are already included in the price. Also, you get a free dessert at the end of the meal just like in Greece.
