Check your credit cards when you return! Cosmo City Hotels are a bunch of crooks. When we arrived they warned us about the restaurant next door taking financial advantage of their guests, well they are just as bad. When we got there they asked for a credit card and something seemed weird about it. Against our better judgment we gave them one but when we returned home to the states, we had a mysterious $40 charged to us. Perhaps they billed a "small" amount in hopes that we wouldn't notice. We called the hotel and they said it was for damages but wouldn't or couldn’t tell us what the damages were. I can assure you with 100% certainty there were NO damages. We are neat, clean and responsible adults. We are now fighting this mysterious charge through our credit card company. I was going to give the hotel a bad review anyways due to the fact that the lobby smells like a sewer and the people at the desk are creepy and repeat the same sales pitch for the excursions (I assume they get a kick back). Most displeasing about the hotel were the walls in the guest rooms. They are paper thin. I not only could hear every enunciated word our neighbors were saying but i could even hear her zip up her suitcase, that's how paper thin the walls are. Forget sleeping if your neighbors are watching tv or talking. Also, the breakfast was less than impressive. I would...
Read moreDidn't really enjoy my stay here. It's definitely close to the city centre. I think it's about a 10 minute tram ride which was helpful. There's heaps of food places around (or so I thought). I guess the biggest negative is that the rooms can get pretty stuffy, there's no fans and in my room there was only one window. I think it was a room of 12 people or more and it was extremely tight to fit everyone in especially with big bags. Also there's no kitchen or common area to cook food and you need to pay for hot water. Also there's only one bathroom on every floor so I found myself having to wake up early to be able to have access to them (I mean around 6-6:30 am) because people can line up. Also if you have an extremely large bag its not the best place. I had to carry a 20kg bag up of two flights of stairs and the width of the stairs isn't that big.. so if you're carrying light luggage around with you it's definitely a better options. However, some nights I did not feel safe leaving my belongings out.. so please be careful with your belongings try keeping items like laptops in locked places like your luggage. They did have lockers but a staff member told me it was small. For female travellers I do recommend hostelle - it's further out but had better facilities for...
Read moreBreakfast this morning was abysmal. Waited 25 mins for bacon and eggs and the 2 slice, yes two slice toaster for the whole hotel, was broken. Rooms are good, hopefully breakfast will be better tomorrow. 2nd day, toaster had been repaired and there was actually bread, still had to ask for bacon and eggs again. Waitress' response was one of shock (bad acting) "oh there's no bacon,? It will be 5 mins" There seems to be the same porridge type slop available as well as boiled vegetables, it was carrots yesterday. When the bacon did arrive there was around 6 small rashers, my wife and I took them. There was none for the rest. When other people asked for bacon, she came and inspected what we had on our plates. I think she thought we had taken more than our share? Coffee is good and plentiful and no need to ask for more (it's from a machine). Hopefully breakfast will be a better experience tomorrow. 3rd day, didn't bother going for breakfast. Ideal location and rooms are...
