I ordered a burger and gave me the blinking chip waiting for the order to be prepared. When the chip was flashing and vibrating I wnt there and there was no burger ready. The waiter was arguing someone else would have taken my burger. Instead of preparing it again quickly, she started asking what should she do for me. Quite irritating they have no easy solution (it seems it happens often when buses stop here) and keep asking without thinking to do it again quickly, or give a refund. Island is not so cheap and spending 3500isk and get nothing is frustrating. I had to leqve because my bus was leaving. Better buy sandwiches at the supermarket if you have a deadline to respect. P.S. as google doesn’t allow to reply to the owner, I’d like to add the the manager walked to the other side checking for my order andshe didn’t find. Then started asking what should she do with arrogance and impacience so I left. One star is deserved because I paied for something I did not get. And got no alternatives from the manager. That’s it. Don’t say you proposed and bla bla bla because you checked by yourself that meal was not ready and you had no plan B when these accidents happen (and with thousands of tourists, I...
Read moreOn February 21, 2023 I was with my family in this Ice Cave Bistro place in Vik and I have to say that not only the food was bad but also the service was terrible. We bought 2 lamb chops and they were both burned, we tried to eat them, but in the end we decided to make the claim. The person who received my complaint (apparently the administrator) was dismissive and rude when she said that since we didn't bring the whole meal, she couldn't give us our money back or give us another meal. Of 6,200 crowns that we paid, she only returned us a thousand crowns. I do not recommend this place, it is not only that someone can make a mistake and burn the food (that can happen) is that the response and attention given to customers is not appropriate, even the cashier looked and answered grumpy to...
Read moreWe stopped here for dinner on our long drive around the island. It's kind of like a huge rest area with shops attached, for anyone who's from or has been to the US on a road trip.
The bistro is canteen style dining where you get a tray and pick out your food from a line up. I got the traditional Icelandic fish stew with rye bread. It was amazing! The rye was so good too, especially paired with the icelandic butter.
Also attached is a photo of the coffee (standard size) my friend got. It was one of the first differences we noticed about Iceland and most other places we've traveled; their standard coffee size is much smaller.
This is a great place to stop on your road trip across Iceland. There's also Icewear right next door in case you need more...
