Vínstúkan Tíu sopar /Restaurant /Wine Bar — Restaurant in Reykjavik

Avoid this restaurant!!! We saw the happy hour promotion of buying a bottle of wine & get 2 courses FOC. Staff confirmed the free courses can be selected from both starters & main course. We were there around 5pm, ordered a bottle of red wine together with following courses.

1. Sardines with bread
2. Prosciutto di Parma
3. Prawns with chilli
4. Chicken thigh in sticky sauce
5. Schnitzel with blackberries Can the owner pls explain why we were not given 2 courses free??? Looking at the bill after paying, we realised that we were charged for all the courses ordered! Really disappointed at such tourist trap & dishonesty in Iceland 🇮🇸

Edit : Owner replied that they will refund the 2 courses wrongly charged to me. Will wait & see if there’s a refund done. Update : There was No refund on the 2 courses which were supposed to be FOC. This place...

DO NOT go here. Before 7pm there is a happy hour deal of get a bottle of wine and receive 2 free tapa plates. We asked for a certain wine and the waitress said it was not available but let us try a different wine that “was similar” she gave us a taste and we said it was great. I then asked if it was the same price as the wine we requested and she said it’s actually cheaper. We said great, we will take a bottle. When we went to the counter and after my credit card was charged we found that the wine was actually 2500 krona extra (not cheaper) than the wine we originally requested. I brought this up and she replied “oh I made a mistake I hope you enjoyed everything” and then hid in the kitchen. She did not accept guilt and/or correct our tab. Do not trust this place. The loss of Tíu Dropar will leave a hole in my heart but thank goodness Tíu Dropar came along and carried on the amazing vibe that is so special with this space. It’s tiny; it’s a little bit dark; it’s old-school, in the best way possible. The food is top-notch. Who makes broccoli such a delicacy? Of course there’s the wine. Can’t recommend this place enough.
