Like a warm hug for you soul! Not only is the food is simply divine but the service and the atmosphere make you feel like you're dining in your favorite restaurant at home. The compositions are very pretty, the flavor combinations are interesting enough to make you fall in love with the good old classics all over again. They manage to keep it simple enough though so you do remember why you loved them in the first place. We had the shellfish cream soup and the cured salmon as a starter and I am so glad I got to taste both. The soup is full of flavor and the dill oil adds a great kick to it. The salmon is super refined and I loved the combination with the dill paste and the pickled cucumber, super refreshing! We had the lamb ribeye and the cod as a main and where just so happy with our choice. We read in another post that "the chef must be in love" and felt that person must have misunderstood the dish a little. Yes we had some salty bits too but I believe this stems from high quality flaky sea salt which was sprinkled over the dish so every bite taste a little different. We really enjoyed that, especially in combination with the very well composed sides. My lamb was super tender and flavorful. I haven't had such good lamb since leaving New Zealand in 2018. The desserts where a great finish to an amazing dinner. Again we found little surprises like the pickled (?) spiced apple in my rhubarb cake wich gave it a tangy, spicy zing. And my partner loved the combination of oatmeal and chocolate in his brownie. The produce they used was high quality and even though Iceland can seem a little pricy to tourist from Europe I say I would have payed the same price in Germany without thinking twice. Btw. Icelanders don't liking tips is a myth!! Go and tip these hard working people if you feel pleased with your service.

Came here for dinner. A cozy space serving up Icelandic based dishes. I ordered the three course pre-fixe which includes the smoked salmon as appetizer, then herb crusted lamb followed by the brownie for dessert. The smoked salmon was served with trout roe, dill aoli, pickled cucumbers, and garnished with watercress and rye bread crumbs. The smoked salmon was served in an agreeable portion. This dish was outstanding and definitely the star of the show. 5/5 The main dish was the lamb served with roasted potatoes, baked parsnips, parsnip puree and a scattering of diced pickled beets. The lamb was served in two cuts; ribeye and shoulder. The herb crusting and ribeye were perfect though I did not enjoy the texture of the shoulder as much and was a little dry in some places. On top of the parsnip puree there appeared to be what I thought was pulled pork which was a little strange. Good portions. 4/5 The dessert was a brownie bathed in a salted caramel sauce topped with strawberries and vanilla ice cream. It was good but not memorable. The portion was slightly disappointing and should be increased. 3/5 Slightly expensive for what you get. They do however serve you some bread and whipped butter with seasoning to snack on while you wait. Service was friendly and courteous and I was greeted as soon as I had entered. May return for the smoked salmon. Overall: 4/5

Got a last-minute reservation after a very long day travelling from the UK and then exploring the city on foot. This is a small restaurant which adds to the atmosphere. Staff were pleasant, spoke good English, and were attentive. We started with a viking beer and a fruit gin and sprite (havent found anywhere that serves lemonade round here yet). Husband had the set 3 course menu and I chose from the A la Carte. He had salmon to start which he loved and I chose the mushroom soup which was poured out into the bowl in front of me on top of the ingredients that were already in there. It was absolutely delicious. We both had the lamb for mains. We are sheep farmers and usually eat our own lamb, but this was the best lamb I have ever tasted. Cooked to perfection and tasted so flavoursome it was a taste sensation with each mouthful. A glass of red wine chosen from their menu was an excellent accompaniment. Although full, we couldn't resist a dessert, just to see if perfection ran through the whole menu! From the set menu, husband had the chocolate brownie which he enjoyed, and I chose the rhubard cake which was a cross between a cherry bakewell and flapjack served with icecream and very small pieces of raw, tarte rhubarb. It was a taste sensation and rounded off our evening perfectly. Would definitely return despite the £170 price tag.

Delicious haute cuisine interpretation of traditional Icelandic fare. The dishes were not over seasoned or unnecessarily over complicated but still presented what could have been boring dishes in a non-traditional format with delicious flavors. All ingredients were fresh and they didn't need to use buzzwords like "farm to table" to let you know because you could taste the quality. The two soups available for starters, traditional meat soup and creamy shellfish soup were both extremely flavorful but not overwhelming. The scallop starter was plated amazingly with a beautify foam/puree that really complemented the fresh scallops well. The lamb and cod main courses, both extremely traditional Icelandic dishes, were perfect representations of how a classic dish can be modernized with well prepared sides and by simply cooking them properly. The creme brulet with strawberry sorbet for desert was amazing and should not be missed. Overall one of the best fine dining experiences you could hope for. Expect to pay what you would pay in a Michelin star restaurant in a major metropolitan city.

This restaurant is outstanding!!! It is on the pricey end, but the cost is well worth it. I came here with my family to celebrate our last night of our Europe trip we'd been planning for years and this was the best meal we had. My parents each had a 3 course meal, which started with cured salmon and roe. I had a taste and it was incredible - very fresh and delicate. I had a cod filet, which was seasoned with local salt and herbs, and served with garlic mashed potatoes, root vegetables, celeriac, and 3 different amazing sauces (including a Champaign sauce). We had brownies with ice cream for dessert. Everyone enjoyed their meals and left in good spirits. The wait staff was kind, knowledgeable, and efficient, and had great wine recommendations for each meal. The staff also worked as a team - when one person was busy serving a table, the other would check on us and refill our drinks. The atmosphere was cozy, with white and Earth tones, wood, cute lights, hand-painted fish, and old maps. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're ever in Reykjavik!

We had the 3 course menu and a separate menu. The salmon as a starter is great. It’s super fresh, and the dill flavor adds perfectly on it. The mushroom soup is great too. Our main courses were the beef and the lamb (there’s only one for each in the main courses). Both were really nice, but we especially recommend the lamb. The meat has the perfect texture and the soft one melts in your mouth. The taste is great. The beef is great too, we just liked the lamb better. Worth mentioning are the onions next to the beef. Our desert was the brownie, which we can also definitely recommend. The strawberries were fresh, and the nuts and caramel add perfectly with the ice cream on the brownie. We did not have a wine, because we planned on going to a bar afterwards and did not want to get drunk before (one of us has a low threshold). The staff was super friendly and was ready to answer our questions regarding the food we were eating. The place is a bit smaller, but super cozy and adequate of the menu. Great for a couple evening. All in all highly recommendable.
