As an American who annually attends a Greek Food Festival in my city, I am no stranger loukoumades, the luscious Greek doughnuts that are one of my favorite treats I don’t get to indulge in often enough. Therefore upon my vacation arrival to Iceland, as soon as I spotted Loo.Koo.Mas. I knew I had to try them… Well tonight I did. These are hands down the BEST loukoumades I have ever had! While totally sinful and decadent, they aren’t overly sweet (in the US we would ruin these by making way too sweet). The fried dough is golden on the outside and pillowy on the inside, made even more delicious by topping choices that add a variety of flavors and textures. On the menu are suggested topping combos, but I opted to “Create My Own” with salted caramel sauce, cinnamon and feuilletine (crispy flakes made from thin, sweetened baked crêpes. One of the delightful (and snappily dressed) owners suggested I add a drizzle of vanilla cream (which is what I would call a crème anglsise) and he could not have been more right. Not only did it make for a prettier presentation, but it balanced the other flavors perfectly.

The pristine pink and red shop with a retro vibe and great branding offers a lovely atmosphere as your treats are prepared fresh in front of you using gleaming equipment. Needless to say, I’m trying to figure in another visit before I leave Reykjavik to treat...

We had such a great experience at Loo Koo Mas. We ordered the Ferrero, and although our order was forgotten at first and came out a bit late, we honestly weren’t bothered at all or in a rush of any sort. These things happen, and the way the staff handled it more than made up for it. As soon as they realized the delay, they were incredibly kind and proactive, offering us a complimentary scoop of ice cream to make up for the wait—a really thoughtful and appreciated gesture.

And let me tell you, the Ferrero was absolutely worth waiting for. It was rich, indulgent, and beautifully presented. The flavors were perfectly balanced—chocolatey, nutty, and just the right level of sweetness. The extra scoop of ice cream wasn’t just a nice touch—it actually took the whole dessert to the next level. It complemented the Ferrero perfectly and made for a truly decadent treat.

The atmosphere at Loo Koo Mas was warm and inviting, and the service felt genuinely caring. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great dessert and top-notch customer service! The owner was super engaged and personable with...

I recently had the pleasure of trying loukoumas, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! These delightful treats are like little bites of heaven, perfectly fluffy and golden brown, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon.

The texture is light and airy, making each bite feel indulgent yet comforting. The warm, sweet syrup complements the dough perfectly, creating a harmonious balance of flavors that is simply irresistible.

What I love most about loukoumas is how they can be enjoyed in various ways—whether you prefer them classic or topped with nuts, chocolate, or even a scoop of ice cream, there’s a version for everyone!

If you’re looking for a sweet treat to satisfy your cravings, I highly recommend...

f you’re looking for the best dessert and hot chocolate in Iceland, look no further! I recently had an incredible experience here that I just have to recommend. The dessert was exquisite – rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And the hot chocolate? Easily the best I’ve ever tasted, perfectly creamy and not too sweet, with just the right balance of flavors. Beyond the amazing treats, the service was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they serve. This place truly understands how to make guests feel welcome and cared for. Don’t miss out on this gem if you’re in Iceland. it’s a cozy spot perfect for warming up and indulging a little.
