Looking for a place to hangout with friends with some awesome ambiance, 1131 Bar & Kitchen should be your choice. It has a courtyard, a vertical wall garden which cools down the place and an ambiance that lets you relax. Located in Indiranagar just on top of smoor chocolates, gives it an apt kind of audience and the right kind of reach.. It has a total of 3 floors, one for closed no-smoking dining, one for buffet with the courtyard and the top floor is for ala carte with the courtyard view. I specially loved the idea of placing picnic tables at the courtyard, which gives the place a very attractive look. We went in for a sunday brunch, the menu is as below, though the menu keeps changing every week, we ordered some items which are not on the regular menu... Starters: Mediterranean healthy veg rolls - Very healthy indeed, a very good portion to be served and completely filled with a healthy veg filling which elevates the dish perfectly. Kaffir lime and prune cottage cheese skewers - Honestly speaking, I was dissapointed, the paneer was hard and burnt unusually. Sesame chilly and honey chicken - Great dish, the sauce and the marinate complimented each other really well and the sesame did its job of elevating the dish. 1131 Hot signature wings - The best ever chicken wings I've had till date, the marinate, the sauce, the garnish, the cook of the meat... spot on... A must try. Beer battered fish with gherkins tartare - Very tender and juicy fish, beer flavour doesn't overpower the fish taste and fried in a such a way that it doesn't make you feel the food being very oily... Another must try for fish lover... Signature party length nachos - This is something worth trying, if you're in a big group, this is an eye popping dish, a one metre length serving of a bed of nachos with beans, jalapenos and sour cream and sauces to top it with, a very light take on nachos which is generally expected and a delight to look at. Prawns in RCP Sauce(Roasted chili paste) - I love seafood and when it comes to prawns, it holds the highest priority, well the dish wasn't the best but the chilli paste sauce was a very different take on the prawns, prawns were cooked well thus the overall dish stoodout.
Pizza: Homemade vegetarian pizza Chicken Tikka Pizza
We went in for half n half, The pizza base I feel in pubs or lounges should be thin crust instead of pan crust a sit fills you too much. The topping were okay and didn't really standout among so many other items.
Drinks: Twilight Zone - A chilli based drink, too good to look at and to drink it was a different experience, if you look at experimenting with drinks, you can give it a try. Whiskey Sour - One of my favourites, the barman took utmost care to curate and make the drink which was a real killer. LIIT - A classic, was made pretty strong and the colour accentuated really well. Shooters - Vodka shooter, in different shades were nice tabs to end the brunch with.
Main Course: Sea Salt Rubbed Grilled Chicken Coconut Basmati Pilaf
The combination of the pilaf and chicken was really good, the grilled chicken went well with the pilaf and since we tried a lot of starters, main course was kind of ignored...
Desserts: Brownie with ice-cream - Double brownie points for the ice-cream and the hot chocolate sauce, but the brownie needs to be smaller in size as that big a brownie is too much to eat and also the hot chocolate sauce gets over too soon for that size of brownie.. Taste wise it was a killer. Choco Lava Cake - Showstopper of the brunch, Appetizing to look at, and when you cut into it... the chocolate oozes out so damn smoothly that it will entice your tastebuds to maximum, one of the best choco lava cakes ever tried.
1131 has gives you an exquisite experience of dining along with a great bar serving some kickass drinks, if you're looking for a place to relax and chill, you must...
Read moreIndira Nagar is one place in Bangalore where pubs and restaurants are aplenty ! Adding to the list is ‘1131 Bar & Kitchen‘ – and they are already being looked upon as the new hangout destination in the city ! With 3 levels to their name including an A/C Lounge, a Courtyard, a virtual gaming zone and a Bar that speaks volumes – it is here to stay ! The open courtyard area, the different seating style, the cozy lounge, the casual decor and the garden wall with the mini fountain area – all adds to the perfect experience. The lighting is well thought of and suits the theme of the place. Tried the cocktail - Barbados – this one was a blend of white rum, coconut syrup, mint sprigs, lime and coconut water. The overall taste is sweet and mine was no ice one which meant it was soothing. If rum and coconut combo is your thing – do not miss this one ! On the food - Party Length Nachos : Definitely party length and Nachos is as always comfort food. Home made Tortillas Chips with Cheddar Cheese , Baked Beans, Salsa, Sour Cream and Guacamole. Enough Nachos for a Party gang of 5 ! American Buffalo Wings : Tried two variations of this –
Jamaican Jerk Chicken – Spicy yet juicy. All the right marination and that hint of herb works well. The cook on the outside and the inside is well done as well .Crispy Garlic Parmesan – Loaded with Flavours. This wing was succulent and high on taste. Every bite had the flavour. Garlic ups the ante a bit.
Immunity Booster Salad : Yes, you read that right and though it sounds the salad for the health conscious, it’s actually very refreshing ! Pomegranate, Avocado, Baby Spinach, Orange slices with Balsamic Vinaigrette and mixed Lettuce make up the salad. The plate of food is so well presented and is the best way to start a meal !
Prawns in RCP Sauce : Wok tossed prawns with a spicy chilli paste and seasoning. The sauce was hot indeed. The bell peppers, green chilli added all the heat required. Nice, flavorful bite size prawns !
Broccoli & Water Chest-Nuts : Oh my, I loved this one. Broccoli is my favourite any day combining that with water Chestnuts with a nice tangy sauce and a slight pepper seasoning with mild garnish was so good ! Broccoli original texture is retained to the most and that’s what ups the game for me.
Pasta – Roma Thyme Farfalle : Bow Tie Pasta tossed with Roma Tomatoes, Exotic veggies, Basil and topped with Feta Cheese. It all sings well. I always prefer red sauce for my pasta and this one ticked all the right boxes. Feta cheese added the balance that was needed and it was lip smacking good ! The plate selection for the pasta is perfect and full points for the presentation.
Flash Flamed Mango & Thai Basil Pannacotta : Desserts time and Pannacotta was first on the hit list. Basil flavoured Pannacotta was mouth-watering. Oat Meal cracker, Brownie gravel and Butterscotch cream added the crunchy creamy effect !
Tiramisu : Perfect classic Tiramisu with coffee steeped finger biscuit and amaretto laced mascarpone. There is a fine balance in getting the Tiramisu perfect and they managed it well. Flavours well-balanced, spoon slides through till the end which means perfect texture and that biscuit is well worth it.
Service and hospitality are great here. Mr Adarsh who is the Senior Manager at the House of Commons and Mr Prakash who is the Manager at 1131 ensured all our needs were met. They happily obliged to show us around and explain the overall concept of the place which is excellent. Valet parking is available and pricing...
Read moreAtta Boy! This place is a surprise. I did not expect to see such a beautiful place, bang on 100 ft Road Indra Nagar, just above Smoor. It is very inconspicuous.
There is an interesting backstory on how this place got its name, make sure you ask your friendly host to know more.
We bunch of foodies ended up here on a rainy Monday afternoon and ended up sitting in the outdoor seating, because thankfully the rain had stopped by then.
We hungry bunch quickly ordered our drinks and a bunch of starters, & settled down.
The Signature Nachos With Chicken Strips tasted great, especially the spicy red beans elevated the otherwise regular nachos. Thankfully here they serve the nachos not just with sour cream, but also with a few squeezes of guacamole. The guacamole tasted great, though I would have preferred a slightly more thicker version. Chicken had a nice smoky flavour & cooked well.
The Dumpling Platter was huge, with loads of chicken & Seafood Dimsums. It was delicious, a minor complaint though is that the outer shell probably was a little over steamed. The fillings however was one of the best I had in recent times.
The Tandoori Pomfret was beautifully presented, tasted even better, the marination was just too perfect.
We did have a surprise factor in the form of Bhatti Da Kumbh, a great mushroom dish which had a stuffing of secret spices, lightly coated & fried. It was absolutely delicious, & we kind of preferred this slightly more.
We did get to try the newly launched Non-vegetarian Platter, which became quiet evident shortly that its way too much for just two non-vegetarians in the group.
We did total justice the Platter, infact stuffed us with so much meat that we didn’t need the main course at all.
The Platter had Mutton Seekh Kebab, Chicken Tangdi, Fish Hariyali, Buffalo Wings Tikka, but the delight factor case from a very unique & innovative dish, a Chicken Tikka infused with Absolute Rasberri flavour vodka & Jalapeño. Just loved the mild sweetness added by the rasberri flavour, with the slight tanginess of the jalapeño. This is a must try guys, don’t miss it.
To be honest, though we were stuffed with the Platter, we did sneak in a slice each from the vegetarian pizza, cause it was very tempting & it was absolutely delicious.
I have heard so much about they’re Baileys Mousse Cake, I reserved a portion even before we settled down. This decadent Baileys infused Chocolate Mousse sitting pretty on top of a Chocolate Fudge Cake, Absolutely Mindblowing. It definitely lived up to the hype it created through the previous reviews. The Mousse was very airy, smooth & the mild Baileys hit is something that I loved, & the fudge cake created the right balance in flavour & texture to the Mousse.
The Choco Lava Cake & House Made Maple Honey Ice Cream was another top class dessert, a must try. I must mention the maple honey Icecream was very delicious.
The Tiramisu & Cheese Cake were decent.
I heard that they have a Sunday Brunch, which apparently is a must try. Going by our experience today, am definitely coming back for the...
