I recently visited Andhra Ruchulu for a quick lunch after work, and it turned out to be a really satisfying experience. The restaurant had a good crowd, which is usually a good sign, and the overall ambiance was comfortable — simple but clean and spacious enough to relax and enjoy a meal.
There were plenty of options on the menu, both veg and non-veg, but I decided to go with the veg meals this time. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. The rice was hot and fluffy, sambar and rasam were flavorful, and the chutneys and podis (spice powders) added a real Andhra touch. However, I did notice that the usual variety of vegetable side dishes that typically come with a veg meal were missing — there were only a couple of small portions. I felt that could be improved a bit to round out the meal better.
To add a bit of variety, I also ordered their Andhra-style Lemon Chicken Fry (boneless), and that turned out to be a great decision. The chicken was tender, well-cooked, and packed with flavor. It had the right balance of spice and tanginess, and complemented the veg meals perfectly. If you’re okay mixing veg and non-veg, this combo is worth trying.
For dessert, the payasam was the highlight — creamy, sweet, and just the right texture. It tasted homemade and comforting. To top it all off, I ordered a sweet and salt lemon juice, which was refreshing and helped cut through all the spices — left me feeling quite refreshed and satisfied.
Just when I thought I was done, they served a spicy strawberry ice cream at the end — which was honestly quite unique. It had that kick of spice which you don’t expect from ice cream, but it worked surprisingly well! A fun little twist to end the meal.
Overall, Andhra Ruchulu is definitely worth a visit if you’re craving South Indian, especially Andhra-style food. The veg meals are wholesome, and their non-veg starters like the lemon chicken fry are a great addition. Just a few improvements needed on the veggie variety, but the flavors, portions, and service made it a solid lunch experience. Will definitely return to try more...
Read moreA serious suggestion to Google, please allow us to give zero stars for some seriously bad businesses. This place is one such which deserves a zero star. Reasons:- Pathetic service All dishes were just kept on the table & waiter didn't offer to serve. We were 3 people & we had to serve everything ourselves. The funny part is, in the bill, they had the gall to add Rs.100/- as service charge ( for the uninformed, it's not a tax. It is another name for a tip). Since we were aware of this & since there was absolutely no service worth mentioning, we complained & got it reversed. But imagine, how many gullible people pay it without noticing it & also pay a tip over and above it. Food Very average and overly priced. Lack of hygeine was evident as we found the lable sticker intact on the slice of apple in the "Fruit Salad with Icecream". We regret having forgotten to take a picture of it. It's very clear that they don't wash the fruits. Price Our order for 3 people was- 2 soups, 1 Chicken starter, 3 Rotis, 1 Chicken dish, 3 desserts & 1 water bottle. The bill value was Rs.2100/- My inference: This is a very average restaurant in ambience & food quality. Substandard in service & dishonest in pricing. If anyone is patronizing this place thinking it as a fine dining restaurant, I'm 100 % sure that they have never visited a fine dine restaurant...
Read moreWriting this review after my second visit. The place has lost its old quality food and what bothered me more was they charge a service charge of 5% on invoice with a mediocre service. I had to literally ask for each and every item to be served and one of the server even mocked what we asked to serve "rice ghee rice ghee rice ghee CHE!!" which really made us furious but kept calm. They typically keep a bottle of mineral water on table which they charge 60rs/ litre and won't care to ask if we want regular water or prefer bottled and they charge additional gst on water too over mrp.
Rice they served in first serving was cold and they didn't bother to place the rasam, sambhar and other side dishes until we reached the end of eating first course and we had to ask for every single item to be served. Only good thing at the end was they served a complementary ice cream and that too hesitantly since they announced first and then some other guy said its not available and then we had to wait until they served.
I am definitely not going back and the management needs to tame their servers behaviour atleast for few of them. If the management is reading the review please do note you are not doing social service and stop acting like you are serving free...
