Read moreSo I went here on a Saturday after hearing all the praise from my mom who told me how good it was in Hubli. We went in quite early around 12:30-12:45 PM and it was already starting to get a bit crowded and we had to wait for about 10 min to get seated. Well that's where the good experience ends. Cause coming to the food let me just say my mouth was on fire and stomach hurting. Let's start at the beginning, who puts sweets at the beginning of a meal? And the chilli bajji was actually just a whole green chilli that was battered up and fried, safe to say it absolutely destroyed my pallet and couldn't breathe without feeling like I was blowing fire out of my mouth. Next came the famed Jolad Roti (Corn Roti) which was as dry as a brick and just as hard. Was honestly expecting a lot better. They serve it with plenty of butter that helps somewhat combat the dryness. The gravys that were served with the roti was absolutely bland and tasteless, I would suggest you try mixing pickle and curd and have that with the roti instead. The service was extremely slow and had to wait for refill of rotis. The first thing I noticed when I entered the place was how a lot of people had left their rice rasam on the banana leaf, well I found the reason soon enough. The rasam was one more of those spice bombs with absolutely no other flavour. It was disgusting and extremely spicy, and I am accustomed to spicy food. After the meal as I went to wash my hands and I came back to see someone else was already seated in the seat even before I got the opportunity to pay the bill and we had to go to the counter to pay. Definitely never going back.
