Okay , So here's my review .
I visited the restaurant in the buzzing locality of malleshwaram on the 8th cross . I drove a car , If you dedicatedly wish to come and eat here like i do , don't drive. Get a two wheeler or come on a yellow board. You have no parking in and around the place for a car . Well if u get one quick , consider your luck or your prayers were answered by god . The Joladi Rotti section is on the first floor and the self service South Indian cuisine is on the ground level .
So knowing the parking issues , i decided to park my vehicle along the margosa road side and i took a walk down the 8th main lane of malleshwaram to reach Basaveshwar Khanavali restuarant which is on the corner building . The place is on a new building , i took the stairs to the first floor (a elevator is also available) . Observed a few things on the entry - the place is new and shining but the upkeep is lacking from the hoteliers , observed paper n tissue fallen around the stairs which showed inconsistency in cleaning and upkeep . As you enter the restuarant , you are welcomed by the hindu idol on the front . The AC Service Hall is on the right after you enter (I prefered the non AC Section which was well lit naturally and open air) The rates differ as well , AC Section / Meal is 200 INR while the regular outdoor non AC is priced at 160 INR . All you have here is the Jolada Rotti Meals . Expect nothing else . I always visit the handwash area before I start my meal and this also shows how clean the restuarant is and how serious is the management on keeping tabs with the perspect of cleanliness . While doing so again I observed the lack of attention to detail , the area is new and the lack of upkeep will ruin the place to retain the new-ness(if its a word) . The hand wash area is lengthy and spacious but regular upkeep would be great. Coming back to the food , a plantain leaf was kept in front of within no time and I was asked if I need bottled water or normal (Sold at MRP) . Food was served like within fraction of seconds and I was happy with the service . The gentleman serving us was quick and had no worry even if I insisted on a regular call to him asking for some repeaters , hence a Thank You. Being the foodie I am and being a native Bangalorian , I noticed the spice/hotness levels were not normal . The food I expected (A North Karnataka Cuisine usually is🔥) , but to my surprise it was mellowed down too much . So I would suggest the food to be more spicy , specially the curries/palya . The jolada rotti with butter was of no complaints , it was served hot always immediately when asked for a repeat , full points to that . If the curries/palya are improvised this is a perfect jolada rotti meal . Due to the lack if spices, the tanginess was on the higher side The butter milk was classic . Rice was served with Sambar/Rasam . Overall I would rate the food Normal due to the bland texture it gave to the taste buds , If i would wish to return , I would expect a change in the taste of the dishes as that hot jolada rotti deserves more hot spicy curries served on the northern side of my plantain leaf. They said they no Card Facility available , hence I had to pay through UPI PAYMENT Interface .
Service - Kudos Cleanliness - Requires Attention (physically the place is clean , upkeep needed) Taste - Work on the Spices , the taste buds werent happy and are saying no...

Recently I had been to a restaurant called "BASAVESHWARA KHANAVALI" Malleswaram and they serve this authentic and traditional North karnataka meals which is very tasty and reminds us of our culture.
When we talk about the ambience the seating area is very comfortable and the place is bit cozy but it's worth waiting and staffs are knowledgeable and are friendly.
When we talk about food they serve us Neer Majjige (Buttermilk) as welcome drink which cools us after a long drive to the restaurant and next they serve Their delicacy starting with Salad, Jhunka (chickpea flour porridge) which is very tasty and you feel unique too because of low exposure of this dish. Next they serve Jolada Rotti (Indian Bread made out of Corn) this is very bliss to watch process when they are preparing. They make batter and they make Flattened Bread by beating them with their hand and then they apply water to the Jolada Rotti and then they put on fire then it is ready to serve. Then they serve Engayi (Curry made out of Brinjal) This fish is one of the best dish because mixture of spice and Brinjal but I felt that this could be little spice I have mentioned this to them. Next they serve the Cereals also called as Kosambri/Husli. Then they serve Pulav and Raita this dish was really tasty. The must try dish is Saaru (Rasam) and Poppu Sambar I really loved it.
The pricing is ₹220 for non A/C and A/C is ₹250 per head.
I RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO...
Read moreNot Authentic and dalda used excessively which is felt while eating every single bite. Except for jolada rotti and jhunka(which are average tasting), everything else tasted like like North indian cuisine or South Indian meals. Just looting people in daylight under the name of authentic North Karnataka food, plus one lunch costs 300 bucks which way too expensive for the ambience (very noisy, unhygienic and sub standard), variety, quality and taste of the dishes served. The main usp of North Karnataka food- 'Badnekayi Ennagaayi'(brinjal curry) tastes very pathetic and bad.
Worst part is that this 300rs meal doesn't even include holige(you have to pay extra for it) and you have to wait for 20-30min for a table. In anyway rs.300 isn't justified (PS: the price has gone from 180 to 300 in a year- simply taking advantage of fame got through Krupal's video). Other proper khanavalis and road side eateries serve such authentic North Karnataka food unlike this place.
This place has just become famous due to Krupal's 'Food lovers tv' video and everybody comes here to try it out the first time and they never come back. The repeat customers are almost zero which is what this place deserves. Absolutely don't recommended to go here rather choose from many better eateries in...
