A Dosa Odyssey in Malleswaram If you've ever dreamt of a dosa so good it could make a monk renounce his vows and a politician turn honest, then you need to head to this unassuming joint in Malleswaram. It's the kind of place where the chairs look like they've survived a particularly brutal game of limbo and the cutlery is on a first-name basis with basics. But fear not, dear reader, for this is where culinary magic happens. The decor, or lack thereof, is best described as 'simple with aspirations of minimalism'. It's like the owner decided to channel their inner Marie Kondo but stopped halfway through. There are no fancy tablecloths, no soft cushions, and certainly no mood lighting. But who needs ambiance when you've got Benne Masala Dosa? Now, let's talk about the staff. They're a peculiar bunch. Imagine a poker face and a deadpan delivery, and you've got a pretty accurate picture. Don't expect warm smiles or helpful suggestions. Their attitude is roughly equivalent to a cactus offering a hug. But hey, they’re here to serve dosa, not win a popularity contest. And then there's the dosa. Oh, the dosa. It's a masterpiece, a culinary symphony, a religious experience. The Benne Masala Dosa is like a warm hug for your taste buds. It's crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and the masala is a flavor explosion that will make you question your life choices up until that point. The Benne Dosa, a simpler affair, is equally delicious. It's the kind of dosa that makes you contemplate opening a dosa-only restaurant in your backyard. The chutneys are the cherry on top. One is a fiery concoction that will make your taste buds do a happy dance, while the other is a cool, calming companion. Together, they create a flavor profile that is nothing short of divine. So, if you're ready to embark on a culinary adventure that involves ignoring questionable decor, indifferent staff, and the occasional elbow in the ribs (courtesy of your fellow diners), then this Malleswaram gem is calling your name. Just be prepared to wait in a queue that would put a Black Friday sale to shame. But trust me, it's worth it. Your taste buds will thank you. Ah, a Jain chutney! That's a fantastic addition. It's great to see places catering to different dietary needs. Imagine enjoying that perfect Benne Masala Dosa with a complementary Jain chutney – a match made in culinary heaven!

A must visit place in Bangalore, a must visit place for all dosa lovers. This place serves one of the best dosas ever, and that's a fact. The dosas are crispy from the outside, soft from the inside. They're made with pure ghee, and potato gravy, and chutney are out of this world. Masala dosa and Mangalore Bajjis are the specialities here, but there are also a wide range of other typical south indian dishes. CTR is never empty, it is always more or less crowded. Finding people waiting outside this hotel for a seat is a common scene. The waiting is systematic, and everything is smooth. If there is a waiting list too, it is definitely worth it. The building is the same as the building it was started in a few decades ago, a remnant to the old Bangalore. There have been necessary renovations and developments too, but the interiors give you a positive nostalgic feel of the old Bangalore vibes. Price is reasonable. It's slightly higher than the typical prices. A normal masala dosa is typically 60rs, here it's 65rs. Coffee is 10rs to 15rs usually, here it's 20rs. Still falls under the budget category considering the history of the place and the taste. Service is extremely fast even when the hotel is crowded. Seating is slightly less (which explains the waiting list sometimes) but there is also a first floor constructed so you need not wait for more than five to ten minutes. Hygienic place, washrooms available, drinking water available, online and offline mode of payments available. Car parking might be difficult, you might get a spot nearby, else you'll have to park the car at a short distance and walk. Overall, the whole experience is extremely worth it, considering the taste, quality, and history of the food and the place.

The Iconic Hotel Central Tiffin Room ( Shri Sagar) is located in the Heart of Bengaluru. I'm huge fan for their unique taste and Crispness of Masala Dose and Chutney is simply Mind blowing. Hotel is very spacious, can easily serve for 100+ people on one go. Very old kind of feel, feels like you haven't aged ( if you used to visit here earlier during young age) and everything is still under the way. They haven't altered much even today that's great. I used to have my Breakfast ( Masala Dose) here in 2019. And I've visited more than 200+ times in my entire Life. When I visited Vidyarthi Bhavan, I was expecting the taste like CTR style but ended up disappointed. Later I was used to Vidyarthi Bhavan. After long time I came back here and had my most loved Masala Dose in my life and really really disappointed guys. They've lost their taste in their main taste changer "The Chutney" . (They used to serve red chutney and Pudina Chutney earlier) It's taste very different now ( just like other hotels) Masala Dose used to be very Roasted and Crisped but now it's very different you can see in images. Thankfully Coffee tastes the same. I'm not exaggerating the scene, I have had enough Masala Dose and coffee here than most of them even had Masala Dose in their entire Life in hotels. I could really feel the difference, even if there was slight changes then I would have neglected coz I love this Hotel. But the scenario is completely different. The hotel Staff still remains the same, great and fast service ( same like Vidyarthi Bhavan) So overall, I was disappointed completely.(Personal opinion) not baised. Hoping they bring back their Master Recipe and Taste. And if you're a new and haven't tried their earlier Masala Dose, then you'll definitely fall in love just like me. They still serve the great Masala Dose than most of them in this Garden City. There will be like during Weekends, maximum waiting period is around 15min. (waiting period is not like Vidyarthi Bhavan) Prices are on high side now. That's not an issue as Time changes, Prices does.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) I recently visited CTR Shri Sagar in Bangalore and had a memorable dining experience. The restaurant is well-known for its great food, and it certainly lived up to its reputation in that regard. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. CTR Shri Sagar offers a wide variety of vegetarian options, which is perfect for those seeking a flavorful and satisfying meal. I opted for the poori and kesari bath, and both dishes were delicious. The poori was perfectly puffed and accompanied by a delectable side dish, while the kesari bath had a delightful blend of sweetness and aromatic flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would highly recommend these dishes. However, I must mention that the restaurant tends to be quite crowded, and this can lead to slower service. Even when we tried to place our order by calling the staff, it took longer than expected for them to attend to us. This can be a bit frustrating, especially during peak hours when time is of the essence. It would be beneficial if the management could find ways to streamline the service to ensure a smoother and quicker experience for their customers. Despite the slight inconvenience with the service, the overall experience at CTR Shri Sagar was positive. The flavorsome food and the wide range of vegetarian options make it a desirable choice for those seeking a satisfying meal. If you have a little extra time to spare, I would definitely recommend paying a visit to this popular eatery in Bangalore.

Title: A Taste of Tradition with a Hint of Politics Rating: 4/5 I recently visited Central Tiffin Room (CTR), a iconic eatery in Bengaluru, and had a mixed experience. As a food enthusiast, I was excited to try their famous benne masala dosa, which did not disappoint. The dosa was crispy, flavorful, and a perfect blend of spices. It's a must-try when you visit CTR. The ambiance is vintage, with old tables and chairs that add to the charm. However, be prepared for a crowded and noisy atmosphere, especially during peak hours. The service is quick and efficient, but the staff can come across as a bit rude and unfriendly at times. The crowd mostly consists of local Kannadiga people, though I am a Kannadiga too, and it's heartening to see the community come together to enjoy traditional cuisine. However, I did notice that the hotel seems to have a subtle inclination towards right-wing politics, with hints of RSS ideology. This might make some customers uncomfortable. The biggest con, however, is the parking. It's always a problem, and you might need to park your vehicle far away and walk to the restaurant. In conclusion, CTR is a must-visit for its delicious benne masala dosa and traditional South Indian cuisine. Just be prepared for the crowds, parking issues, and a hint of politics.
