I dined at the recently opened Bhatiya Jalpan branch on Saturday along with my professor friend Dr.Uttam Patil. The restaurant is located on the main road and is easy to find.
The place is spacious and well lit, looks elegant with its beige-green interiors and hosts enough tables to dine in. The restaurant offers self service so we settled down on one of the empty tables with the menu in our hands.
Since we were not particularly hungry, we decided to opt for something light on our stomachs. So we decided to have paneer tikka, Jalpan special paratha, a masala ginger tea and Chilha. Mien wahi se Chilha Chilha ke order dene wala tha, but thought it would be more appropriate to order at the counter. After a long wait at the counter I finally placed the order.
First we were served with masala ginger tea, which was good but we were expecting it at the end of our order. Next we got special paratha, which looked good, freshly prepared and tasted good. then we were served with Chilha. Tbh the chilha was genuinely tasty. The paneer tikka was served to the next table even though i had ordered paneer tikka first, Which seemed to be a bit unprofessional, staff should be mindful and alert while they serve the food and proper queue should be maintained.
When it comes to cleanliness, I could see some food particles fallen under the table, which wasn't cleaned. The poorly maintained hand wash area makes you think twice before washing your hands. Overall it feels like a posh chat center where no proper order number is maintained, no proper cleanliness is maintained. There is lots of room for improvement, hope they work upon those in upcoming days
The overall rating 2.5, but...
Read moreFood which is authentic! We loved the chataka zayka of this place, I am struggling to find the right word which can explain the delicious flavour of the food here!
We ordered ginger tea which is perfect and paired quite well with my order of matar Puri..stuffing of matar is quite thin inside the puri but it is quite delicious, served with aloo curry and amazing pickled chilli, I can keep on eating just pickle, it was that good!
We ordered punjabi thali, this comes with lots of small portions, dal makhani and chole was perfect, aamchur added in chole was quite a flavour bomb.. Paneer curry was okayish, little sweet with prominent cardomom flavour. Accompaniments were so great chips, kesar chumchum as dessert and rice was quite good too..Best tandoori aloo pyaaz paratha where stuffing has got so much flavour of its own! They have enough thoughtfulness to add boondi in raita before serving so it is not at all soggy, it is quite crunchy!
We ordered dahi Puri and really appreciate the fact that when I asked I want to eat chaat which comes with puri not papdi and they clearly explained dahi Puri is with puri and sev puri is with papdi.. Even though chaat is bit expensive here, I didn't mind paying because of the quality of ingredients! While serving dahipuri, they give you a mix of dahi, different chatni and raw mango and boondi separately in a bowl from puri which you can add..very convenient and retains the crisp! Puri masala was very tasty!
I recommend this place to everyone who wants to eat sumptuous north indian meal and chaat! Tea is perfect as well! Desserts which are made with milk and dry mava are at the next level, malai chum...
