Beautiful little cafe nestled cozily in the corner of VR Mall. I like their ultramarine crockery. I am so crazy for it that I could end up buying it. I was planning to come here for a while now, for years to be honest. I have been to VR Mall so many times, and at tea time too..but every cafe has a calling and this one did not have it for me back then. It seems 2023 was the year.

On a particularly scorching hot afternoon, I opted for a very unique Chilli Cinnamon Mocha. I still remember the feeling of Chilli playing at the back of my throat. I could feel Chilli, Cinnamon and Coffee separately and pleasantly, which I think is the success of this coffee.

Since it was a weekend, it was chaotic, but the smile on the guys waiting at the table never wavered. They have a very beautiful menu card which has a nicely illustrated coffee guide for you, so that you can make an informed decision. There's a small shelf where they have kept their eye-catching merchandise for sale. Everything's well thought out. How you are treated, how you spend your waiting period and how your coffee experience is.

Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters has been on my long list of cafes to try and on a recent impromptu visit to VR Mall I ended up here to quench my caffeine thirst. Ordered a Vietnamese Iced Coffee that was ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Let me explain, the sweetness cutting through the acidic bitterness of the coffee with the right temperature to hold and to drink, this balance in a cup is something that exceeded my expectations. It is hard to perfect and most cafes get it horribly wrong.

Just to ensure that it was not a fluke attempt by the barista, I walked in here again a few days later, after a movie in the adjacent Phoenix. I ordered the same, this time a large size and it was that perfection replicated beautifully.

The pricing is premium, it is ₹240+ taxes for a small and ₹260+ taxes for a large, and having tried both the sizing options, I feel it is still inadequate quantity, but highly recommended if quality is what you are after.

I can't wait to try their other coffee variants in cold and hot combinations and the food they offer. And I discovered that they deliver too, and let's see how that experience goes when I get to order,...

Horrible. We ordered the smoked chicken sandwich, cinnamon pancakes and spanish iced latte. Bland isn’t the word to describe this coffee. Coffee isn’t the word to describe this coffee. I haven’t tasted water this watered down. This was an absolute disgrace to coffee. I asked for it to be changed and it went from a glass of milk to a glass of milk that dressed up as coffee for halloween.

I think anyone with eyes could’ve deduced that the cinnamon pancakes were embarrassingly undercooked. I think they’ve invented a new shade of white and perhaps they can name it “undercooked”. It was a sunny side up version of pancakes. I wondered if I had contracted COVID-19 just from how much ‘nothing’ I was tasting.

Kudos for messing up the most basic dishes but somehow making the chicken sandwich well. The sandwich was pretty good but to me, it doesn’t make sense to step foot in to a ‘coffee roasters’ for a chicken sandwich.
