The eatery's location, DVG road has primarily, got the greatest advantage of about 1000-2000 foot falls per day. It is not desirable to allow an eatery with such a huge crowd. After taking the dish one has to stand with shoulder rubbings. There is great difficulty in getting tokens, dishes, drinking water, coffee, eating/standing place as the points of all these are colliding with each other. Added to this, there is one unnecessary condemnable barricade obstructing eaters trying to get drinking water etc.
As for the items, they are good but at premium considering their on road, orphaned, costless service and inconveniences the customers are subjected to by way of very paltry quantity of Dosa which just resembles a bigger papad. One can't get satisfaction with one dosa(₹40). Two dosas of this eatery are equivalent to one masaladosa given anywhere else. The owner should enhance the quantity of batter used for dosa. Yes, the chutney served with dosa is not good when compared with that served for idly. Coconut chutney is not given.
This was started may be 8-9years back when the rate of Vada was 12, coffee 5, idli 7 or 8. This owner is now having more than 3 such eateries and a factory for making fresh packaged batter, condiments etc. How could one have expanded to this magnitude without making huge profits from the first one at DVG road that too just by selling on roadside using corporation space for service??? Profits are made hugely when the owners keep a ratio of input cost to output return as 1:7 or 1: 8. Unfortunately there is no check or control in the rates these profiteers fix or force in the innocent gullible unquestioning helpless eaters risking their balance while standing through out. There is not even one stool for emergency occasions where a old person may need.
This is really a monopoly miracle for the owner. But it is high time that some other person too should compete to serve similar dishes so that such an one-sided reckless growth is prevented so that customers too are benefitted.
As of now by2 is unstoppable as there is neither compitition nor regulatory checks for quantity, quality, seats for old and handicapped by anybody. So FREE FOR ALL. DO ANYTHING. EARN ABUNDANCE. OFCOURSE TAX IS...
Read moreI am always on the lookout for soft, fluffy, piping hot, melt in the mouth idlis with runny (neer) chutney. I have explored quite a few places and some have really good idlis but there’s always a vague sense that something is missing, though I have shortlisted one or two favorites. After eating here in By 2 coffee, this place is easily made it to my favorites list. The very picture of soft idlis drenched in chutney and crisp vada is mouthwatering. I could have this for breakfast everyday. The vada is perfectly browned, crisp and hot….it’s amazing how just this is satisfying enough without sambar and still sells ..not complaining though. I also got kharabath as takeaway and that was good too. The smell of coffee was heavenly. Though I am not a coffee/tea drinker, I was enticed to have it. I visit this area often and decided to make this my go to place for idlis. Prices are reasonable. There is not much on offer on the menu apart from idli, vada, dosa, kharabath, kesaribath and chow chow bath along with coffee and tea. They do sell savories and their own idly/dosa batter which I definitely plan to buy next time around. There is no seating and one has to stand and eat which makes it really uncomfortable but this is a darshini style, no frills place. I really wish they had an outlet here in my area. Try By 2 coffee if you are around the area especially around breakfast time for a quick and filling breakfast.
Verdict: Highly recommend and would definitely visit more than once.

Read moreThe place is an inexpensive food joint, very popular among people of all ages. I have been going to By2Coffee from 3 years as far as I remember and I have seen people who are above 60 visit it for their daily coffee post their walk in the near by Bugle Rock garden. That is one advantage. Being right next to a garden, post walk one can eat a bite before heading home. Also the college crowd for there are colleges like APS college, BMS college for Women and BMS college of engineering nearby. They serve good food and have a limited menu - Idli, Vada, Khara Bath and Kesari Bath. And coffee and tea. Earlier it was 5 rupees per glass, I am not sure how much it is now. And just like the giant fast food chain, McDonald's,they serve it fast. What more can one expect?
And all these are good in terms of quality and hygiene too. And at throwaway prices. I observed recently that they have increased prices by a little bit. But that is the case with every other joint in the city with rising prices everywhere and inflation. But this joint, for it goes with the famous Darshini Model of udupi hotels and takes a twist by taking it one step even further is pocket friendly even today. The chutney they serve is awesome, too. For always, I go for one more serving 😬. The only downside I can think of is that the place gets crowded on weekends. So much is the popularity. And since we have to eat on the road side, if it rains that causes a mess.
Overall an awesome...
