I could end this review with just 4 words:
The Blueberry Lime cookie.
But since that is very unhelpful, here is a more detailed one. (The blueberry Lime cookie part is near the end)
I was at cafe muziris yesterday late in the evening looking for a new place to have coffee in Indiranagar, for a change. And I'm glad that I went there - despite it being situated in a not-so-well lit street a little separated from the glitz of the the 100ft and CMH roads. It's a small-ish cafe, with a slightly cramped outdoor seating.
Despite being rated rather well on Google, it was mostly empty when we arrived at about 9 in the evening. My first thought at checking out the menu was that the prices were a little on the higher side - maybe that explains the sparse footfall, I think. Maybe the prices are just inflation - afterall it's been a many years now since I last explored Indiranagar.
Anyways we took a seat outdoor near the entrance and were attended to promptly. We ordered a latte and saffron cake and a blueberry-and-lime cookie. The latte was good - they make it slightly on the lighter side but there is plenty of coffee to drink. The saffron cake was also wonderful. Now I don't really know what a saffron cake is supposed to be like, but I can confirm that this specimen tasted really good, wasn't too sweet, was moist-soft and not crumbly - and more importantly, had sufficient quantity.
And that brings me to the cookie. Did I say that I found the prices to be a bit on the higher side initially? Yeah? Well, this is where I forgive them. We had the Blueberry-Lime cookie - about 5 seconds after my first bite into them is where all my complaints stop. It was amongst the best cookies I have ever had.
It's a little softer than what you'd normally expect a cookie to be (they had heated it before serving) and it was a little on the sweeter side. But all of that is forgiven as I realize that this maybe amongst the very best of cookies I have ever had. I mean I wasn't even all that big on cookies until this day (I'm more of a cheesecake guy) but this changes it. I'd like to describe how these cookies are a little more but I fail to. The wife says that they aren't exactly cookies since they aren't that hard, and while she may be right on the semantics, I forgive it all for how good these taste.
After I had that cookie last evening, I went in to get some more but unfortunately they were out of stock. And so I end up getting the chocolate cookie - but since I hadn't had one I just got 2 of them - to be on the safer side.
And that brings me to today, a man with a regret - as I just finished the last crumbs of the second and final cookie - after it has been refrigerated overnight and then microwaved until its a bit too soft again - I should have gotten more of them.
I think the Blueberry-Lime cookie was a bit better than this chocolate one I have just finished, but either way these are the very best cookies I have ever had. Price inflation or not - if 75 rupees can bring me this much joy, I think I'm a happy man.
Five stars. Try their Blueberry-Lime cookies. They are a bit soft, and a bit too sweet, but amazing all the same. I'd not change a thing.
Also, note to the cafe management: please fix that wobbly table near the entrance - it's no...

Read moreCafe Muziris in Indiranagar celebrates mindful sourcing, be it their ingredients or be it their coffee to ensure that patrons have an elevated experience dining here. On a recent quest for breakfast me and a friend discovered this cozy little cafe whitewashed with aqua accents, very Instagrammable I must say.
We sat down ordering a breakfast combo each, that comes with a coffee or tea, an indulgent breakfast platter and a choice of dessert. I opted for the Farmers Breakfast, which was a pure vegetarian version of an English Egg Breakfast, replacing the scrambled eggs with a spiced paneer scramble as the heart of this hearty breakfast platter. Served with perfectly toasted bread, seasoned sauteed veggies, a perfectly grilled tomato, crispy hash brown circles, some seasonal fresh fruit cubes, a bowl of baked beans and butter. I opted for a cappuccino to accompany this breakfast goodness. I loved everything on the platter, it was extremely curated with individual perfection coming together for this fabulous breakfast, highly recommended. The cappuccino was mild, a decent version, definitely can be a bit more bold.
We also chose to order from the lunch menu and share, as my eyes went towards the classic vegetarian club sandwich and my friend chose to pick the pasta Arrabiata vegetarian. The club sandwich was a great version, two layers of different fresh vegetable mix, between the three layers of grilled break, it was purely great, came with both fries and wedges, both wonderfully made, probably twice fried, and that house tomato sauce was perfection. My only, albeit minor complaint is about the sides not being cut, but it is a personal preference so I will have to discount that.
I also opted for a Vietnamese Iced which was decent too, just needed a little more strength.
I must commend them for their pasta game, which was excellent, the beautifully sour arrabiata sauce was fresh and the cooking on the pasta was simple perfection that sometimes even speciality Italian restaurants tend to miss, kudos to the cafe for achieving such perfection on a simple but valid expectation.
Too full, we skipped sampling the desserts as we were extremely happy with such a wonderful meal, there is definitely scope for improvement on the coffee front, as I felt that the strength of the coffee is something that can improve, maybe to a better concentration in a boldness that I personally expect my coffee to hold, can't wait to come back on a non-vegetarian day for breakfast or...
