We were two and very hungry in the afternoon that's when we stumble up on this restaurant. Although my wife is not passionate of sea food, that matter non veg as such but insisted to go this restaurant.
We were welcomed by a couple of staff with a complimentary kokum juice. The mood and ambience of the inside was a perfect fit for a couple and for a family. Our first impression upon seeing the menu was 'expensive'. But, nevertheless the menu holds vivid dishes. Initially, we ordered the lemon coriander soup with a hesitation on its taste. Honestly, we were thrilled by the taste of it. We were convinced the other dishes would also be of a great taste. We went on ordering butter garlic crab and a tandoori pomfret. Before starting off the cooking. They brought the live crab of two different sizes and one pomfret fish with the price tags. We were asked to chose the sizes of the crab and fish which are going to be confirmed to cook. They also explained how they would be cooking. The gesture was so nice that we will get an understanding of the size and the price as you don't see prices for some of the dishes in the menu, as they wrote 'as per size'(ASP). It took little time where in we ordered a couple of cocktails made of red wine and white wine, which are okay. After a while we were served with the fish and the crab subsequently. The wait was worth. The taste was heavenly. My wife who never ate crab and fish until then, liked the both. Finally, we ordered rice and thai curry to end up our lunch. The overall experience was a delight. Five stars. Must visit place for aqua food. Looking forward for...
Read moreI made a reservation because they had parking. To be sure, I called them up, which they missed; they were professional enough to callback and sounded like they care.
Upon arrival, the approach didn't seem like a fancy place, with limited parking spots (as it is inside a Plaza) and no lift access to get to the first floor for dining, but thankfully they have good food and service to compensate for all that.
They have excellent variety for Seafoods. I went there specifically to eat Fish and Chips. I personally love Fish and Chips and I like visiting joints who have it on their menu, be it Delhi, Kolkata, London or Bangalore. Since Feb 2022, we have resumed dining out more frequently. After being deceived by 2 joints in 2022, this one was the closest to THE ORIGINAL "English" F&C. Third time lucky, I guess ;) The only let-down was the mayonnaise in place of Tartar or Mustard Sauce. I gave them my feedback, hope they work on it for F&C Enthusiasts like myself.
Coastal Machali offered a Welcome Drink and a Cold Wipe (keeping C-19 in mind, I would have preferred a disposable wipe, but they give a face towel instead) since it was hot, I gave in and used it.
I reached around 3PM but they were welcoming and happy to host us. We took time to decide what else to order but they were patient. Dev was our host yesterday and I really appreciate his services.
We took a Veg Fried Rice with Chicken in Schezwan Sauce in addition to F&C. Portion size was good for 2, didn't leave any scope for Drink/ Desert.
I would like to go there again or another outlet to try their Tom Yum Soup and Crab.

Read moreExtremely disappointed with the restaurant. Firstly, they were undergoing renovation and had us sit in the portico. Which would be great with the regular Bangalore weather but in the current April heat it was not ideal. There were flies all around, pigeons flying over head, water/phenyl splattered in the corridor, servers, cleaning staff walking through that splattered water. Overall it was not someplace you'd want to visit for a calm Sunday lunch. As it was our first time here, I assumed i might be wrong and the food must be great. To our horror we were served stale tiger prawns with our prawn ghee roast. We had weighed 6 tiger prawns at ~₹1300. We both tasted a bit of one prawn each and realised it was stale. When i informed the captain about the issue and strong stench he assured he'll replace the dish. They paused our service didn't get the other items we ordered and came back with our "replaced" prawn ghee roast after 20-25 mins. It had surprisingly 4 pieces of the tiger prawns (c'mon didn't we already taste bits of 2 pieces). To our surprise, it tasted of the exact same stale prawn we tasted in the first lot. My assumption, they just refreshed the same prawns with some fresh masala. We asked them to just take the dish back as firstly, the prawns completely looked overcooked and rubbery which confirms the multiple times they cooked it and there was an unbearable stench from the stale prawns. The captain who promised the replacement was not seen again for the rest of the time we were there. We just hurriedly paid our bill sans the tiger prawns and swore to never come back...
