Firewood Biryani — Restaurant in Bengaluru

I happen to drop there on the Christmas Eve. The place is not so prominent enough and is not located in prime location. It was crowded but we managed to get a seat for us. The place is wholeheartedly dedicated to serving Biryani and different starters to much on.

Ambience It is a small place with max 5-6 tables. The whole place has a theme of wood as the name says. It is decorated to the point. Not much and not less. The cutlery they used are tree barks for use and throw.

Service The service is good. But sometimes the server is clueless about what we asked him to do. Otherwise cooperates well and give suggestions according to the taste.

Drinks Not many drinks are available on the menu. They have the aerated drinks and lime soda. We went for lime soda - average.

Food If you are a spice lover, you will love this place. For starters, we went for -

Chicken Tikka - recommended The spice lover favourite. They serve only 5 pieces in a plate. Boneless chicken marinated well into spice and masala. Very spicy.The chicken was juicy and to my liking.

Mushroom Lasuni Juicy mushrooms marinated in garlic and spice.It almost had the same marination as chicken but more garlicky.

Kasundi Paneer The portion is little small as I thought of. The roll is cut in half while serving. Unlike other roll joints, they serve a full big chunk of well-marinated paneer with veggies. The paneer is delicious and filling. Though it lacked a prominent flavour of kasundi.

Veg Biryani Biryani cooked on firewood with assorted veggies. Served with raita, green chutney, and kheer. I don't think green chutney goes with it. The taste was average.

Chicken Biryani Small basmati rice lentils cooked beautifully with juicy and tender chicken in it. Chicken taste good and biryani taste do justice to it. The portion is quite nice for the amount.

The place is famous for mutton biryani though I didn't try it. Would definitely try and it in the second round. The place is totally under budget and offers a lot of quantity...

Okay this small restaurant packs one hell of a surprise in the thier flagship dish! When you enter you would think that this small place can only offer generic biryani, and without much to expect, you would sit down mainly coz of the convenience of the location of this place. But hold your judgements till you take the first bite. Being true to their name, they will actually serve you something which indeed has the earthen flavours of the firewood ingrained into the succulent chicken pieces and flavourful rice. Add to it the mint chutney that comes along and you will be ready to face the rest of the hot Sunday afternoon! Boy oh boy how much I want to go back to this place and try out their muutton biryani as well.
