Title: A Vibrant and Lively Experience at Dose Camp Jayanagar Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) If you're a dosa lover seeking a bustling atmosphere and authentic flavors, Dose Camp Jayanagar is the place to be. I recently visited this self-service restaurant, and while the experience was undeniably vibrant, the crowd could be a double-edged sword. Ambiance: The restaurant's lively ambiance creates an energetic buzz that adds to the overall dining experience. It's a popular spot among locals and tourists alike, resulting in a bustling atmosphere that showcases the true essence of South Indian street food culture. Service: As a self-service restaurant, the staff's role was primarily limited to taking orders and ensuring the tables were clean. While they were prompt in their duties, the high number of customers at peak hours could sometimes lead to slight delays. However, I found their approach friendly and accommodating, despite the busy environment. Cuisine: Dose Camp Jayanagar undeniably excels in its dosa offerings. The extensive variety on the menu caters to diverse tastes, ensuring there's something for everyone. The dosas are flavorful, well-cooked, and generously filled, offering a delightful explosion of South Indian spices and ingredients. The chutneys and sambar served alongside the dosas perfectly complement the dishes. Crowded Environment: The restaurant's popularity comes with a downside - it can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours and weekends. Finding a table might require some patience, and the noise levels can be high. If you prefer a more serene dining experience, visiting during off-peak hours might be advisable. Hygiene: Given the self-service nature and the constant influx of customers, maintaining absolute spotlessness is undoubtedly challenging. However, during my visit, I noticed the staff making sincere efforts to keep the dining area tidy and presentable. Price: The pricing remains reasonable, and the affordability adds to the restaurant's appeal. While you might have to deal with crowds, the value for money offered makes it worth the experience. In conclusion, Dose Camp Jayanagar is a must-visit for dosa enthusiasts who enjoy the vibrant charm of a bustling eatery. The delicious dosas, friendly staff, and reasonable prices make it a popular choice among locals and tourists alike. However, if you prefer a quieter ambiance and a more relaxed dining experience, it might be best to plan your visit during less crowded hours. Despite the crowd, my overall experience was enjoyable, and I would recommend Dose Camp Jayanagar for anyone eager to savor authentic South Indian dosas in a lively setting.

The legendary icon who introduced the concept of pouring ghee directly from a Nandini pouch onto a live tawa 33 years ago in 1990 is making a comeback in a more stylish form at the same corner shop in Jayanagar. Fondly known as "Dose Camp," this beloved eatery underwent renovations a couple of months ago and has returned with a fresh look, while maintaining its timeless taste. One could easily dub it the original "Masale Dose." Picture a beautifully golden crust with a soft interior, generously drizzled with pure ghee, accompanied by a delectable palya (vegetable filling) and a choice of pudi (spicy lentil powder) or garlic chutney smeared on the dose. Paired with the thick coconut chutney, it's hard to find words that adequately describe the resulting explosion of flavors. Enjoy this nostalgic delight in the open area outside the darshini, in the heart of Jayanagar. The dose not only tantalizes your taste buds but also evokes memories. There's a special connection between this dose and the Jayanagar neighborhood. Priced at 60 rupees, this dose is worth its weight in gold. In addition, the darshini has introduced the "Gold Dose," adorned with a foil of edible gold on top, all for 250 rupees. It's a luxurious treat for those seeking a unique experience. The "Pudina Dose" is a must-try, with a fresh coating of mint chutney spread on the inside of the dose. The fragrant aroma and delightful taste, combined with the gooey palya and dose, create a dreamlike sensation. It's a delightful variation that shouldn't be missed. The "Kali Dose" is as spongy as one could imagine, with distinct pores that give it a wonderful texture. It comes with a vegetable-loaded sagu (curry) that enhances its taste. The biggest surprise was the "Gobi Dose." This dose features a strongly flavored, peppery gobi (cauliflower) sagu sandwiched between the dose, stealing the show with its unique twist. All in all, this place is a haven for dose lovers. Make your way to Jayanagar and indulge in the dose extravaganza. The darshini is open until 1 am every day, ensuring you can satisfy your dose cravings at any hour.

Dosa Camp in Jayanagar, Bangalore, promises an experience fit for royalty – a dosa adorned with a layer of gold. But is this a recipe for deliciousness or just a gilded gimmick? Let's find out. Dosa Camp offers the typical Bangalorean dosa joint experience. The familiar, no-frills ambiance and the sizzle of dosa batter hitting the hot griddle transport you straight into the heart of Bangalore's dosa culture. The menu features a variety of dosa options, and the taste is generally good, comparable to other similar establishments. Now, let's address the elephant in the room, or rather, the gold on the dosa. The masala dosa with gold varak is their claim to fame. But here's the truth – the gold adds no discernible flavor or textural difference to the dosa. It's purely aesthetic, a shimmering layer that might impress on Instagram but offers nothing to your taste buds. So, is it Worth the Hype? Dosa Camp is a decent option if you're craving a good, no-nonsense dosa experience in Jayanagar. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the ambiance is authentic. However, if you're solely drawn by the gold dosa, you might be disappointed. The gold adds nothing to the taste and, frankly, feels a bit overhyped. Dosa Camp is a good dosa joint, but the gold is more glitter than gold. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic dosa experience, Dosa Camp is worth a try. But if your goal is a taste of culinary innovation, you might want to look elsewhere.

Always the best taste in Jayanagar locality... Quality is good as well as the popularity.. I've been tasting since 12 years here.

(Previous rating was 4 stars, updating my latest experience here below)

Latest experience -

It’s been at least 15 years since I’m regular to this place, had a very bitter experience recently. I had ordered a single plate of idli, while having it i felt something is missing and thought of having a spoon of ghee (it was normal idli which I ordered) on request in the food counter the person denied and told to get the token for it, i was ready to take the token but i was in middle of the food and told him, “are bhai, why are you worrying so much, i will pay as soon as finish, im in middle of the food”, even after that person was rude and said “Everyone says like that only but no one pays”. After hearing that I felt very bad the way they treated… observing this a local kannadiga person who working there intervened , scolded the northie guy for his behaviour and came forward to put ghee. I had lost my patience for this behaviour yet other person came immediately and served ghee in my plate, I was not at all interested to have the food thereafter.

Then washed my hand and got to the counter and explained the cashier for the incident and behaviour of the staff, owner seems proud and happy for what happened and for action of his staff member for his money mindset sickness.

Since then I lost all respect for that hotel. Money mindset of the Hotel Owners, Rude Behaviour and Trust-less Attitude with customers will effect badly. Unfortunately I have no 0 start...
