Small, cute and decent cafe in Sahakaranagar. The ambience is the most appealing although I think the summer here will reveal a different story! It's nicely laid out, long counter, cute wall painting, decent seating although I feel the space seems a bit under utilised. A larger group seating could be a challenge here. The ventilation is ample with some pedestal fans but the space definitely needs more drastic cooling! Like drafts of fresh air from outside or air conditioning! This will be needed for the next couple of months. I like the idea of paver stones for the floor. Adds a nice outdoorsy, earthy touch! Although it made the tables a little unsteady, they found a simple solution to sort it out and fix the problem.
The table plants are a bit to large for the tables but add a nice green touch.
I didn't try a lot of the food here but one or two just as accompaniments for my coffee. I was really hoping for speciality coffee options and manual brews in this neighborhood and when I saw this cafe coming up, my hopes were high! Unfortunately at the moment they only have a machine that pulls espresso shots and they make coffee derivations from that; Cappuccinos, macchiatos, some cold coffees etc. I tried their classic americano, iced americano and macchiato. Decent coffee. The espresso is a bit too bitter for my liking but palatable. The avocado on toast was nice but i didn't like the sugary drizzle as a garnish on the top. The sauce was too chewy like a brittle and extremely sticky. The flavours were nice with the rocket leaves. The Korean bun was really good too!
Nice place to sit and work. Parking could become a challenge here for cars but ideally one should park on the main road close to Starbuck etc and take a walk. That could solve the congestion.
Overall a nice addition to the...
Read moreFika is a beautiful looking place. Nooked in one corner of busy Shakara nagar. I love the big green door, the grey alfresco wall, the green plants all across. But sorry, a big sorry in this hot summer you don't have even fans for your customer. That one air cooler does not give us any respite from the heat. And one standing vertical fan. No wonder the staff was grumpy, no smiles, no welcomes... as the terrible heat has sapped down their energy as well. If you have open celing, hang fans ...there are lot of aesthetic ways to do one. We went at 5:30 then this was the situation. Imagine going at noon.
Now coming to the food. Now what all we ordered :
Caprese Sandwich Avocado toast with poached egg Zucchini fritters Grilled cottage cheese salad Open toast scrambled egg Cinnamon roll Red velvet white chocolate cookie Iced latte Mocha frappe Lattee Iced Americano
Dish of the day was avocado toast with poached egg. Excellent!!!! A must order dish when one goes there. After that, the red velvet cookie was good. So was zucchini fritters. But, rest of the dish did not blew our mind. I had a lot of expectation from caprese sandwich. I think the balsamic flavour was not enough, hence it lacked flavour. I won't order again if I go. The Scrambled toast, the egg was dry..it could have been a great dish if the egg was moist. Cinnamon roll was really bad, so dry and chewy we left one part of it. I wish they served me my hot latte in cup rather than in glass...rest of the beverages that we ordered was fine. All in all, it can be a great cafe to meet friends and chill but only after monsoons. Also, spruce-up your service. And fix the flavours of your food...this beautiful cafe & their team needs care and attention....from the founders who built it....

Starting with what I like the least of all the things I like about this place, the staff is very sweet. Then it's the ambience — plain yet elegant, clean and soothing with the hanging plants and all, very peaceful inside as well as outside, given that it's in a quiet residential neighborhood. Finally, the food. We have liked almost everything we've tried. Here's a list: Cold chocolate was great the during my first visit, thick and luscious. It was just fine the second time, not thick, and in a smaller glass. Essentially, it isn't bad at all, but it would've been nice if they didn't lower the standard Orange juice was perfectly truely cold pressed! Avocado smoothie, good. Cappuccino, good. Iced lemon tea was OK. Chicken schnitzel, great! Mushroom toast, amazing! Herbed chicken with harissa hummus, amazing! Pav Bhaji on sourdough, I couldn't taste it myself cuz my sis hogged it in seconds. But she said it was good. Sirarcha chicken toast — we all agreed that this was the BEST, finger-licking good!! However, gotta mention, the first time I had visited, it was dripping with the Sirarcha sauce. The next time, toppings were reduced a little overall.
The few quibbles: Paneer gravy bowl was probably the only dish we didn't like. Only a part of the order that we placed online reflected on their system. And we realised this after waiting a very long time and asking them about the remaining items, which is when they said they hadn't received it. He offered a replacement dish for one that went off standard out of his own accord, yet it was charged on the bill... which I only...
