Had a horrible experience from staff to food.
TL;DR: The service was slow and the food was terrible and was definitely not worth what I paid.
I went with 2 friends and I was looking forward to it since I had been here before and i thought it was a decent place. All 3 of us ordered the breakfast platter which contains eggs, meat, cake, bread, baked beans, waffle, and juice among other things. You can customise the food to some extent and this is what we did.
To start with our waiter seemed confused and didn't know how to handle it. After we ordered the food came fairly quickly but it was all mixed up. So after a bit of exchanging among us we started eating and the food was really sad.
The food on the menu seemed like it would be a lot but they gave us mini portions of everything which was the first disappointment. The worst here was the cinnamon bun which felt like it could have been the size of the tip of my thumb. The best was the eggs which was about half the size of the plate.
The second disappointment was the taste. Here I think everything was bad except the eggs which i was quite happy with but most of the food was fairly room temperature when it arrived which i think made it taste even worse. The cinnamon roll was the worst here also. It should have just been called plain roll or something and at least it would have been a bit better. In all honesty it tasted like bad bread that had been served the next day. Let's also not forget the waffle that had both the consistency and taste of rubber. Nothing else was much better everything else was well below average though not as bad as those two.
The third disappointment was the plate size. This is surprising if you consider the size of the food. The food is piled high to maybe feel like you are eating more food but in reality there is quite little. Also because they put the sweet and savoury together when you eat it you get other flavours which don't work. For example, i tried to cut the cake and 1 side went into the sauce for the baked beans and the other side went into the sauce for the sausages. There was no place to move anything anywhere else and side plates were not provided.
The final disappointment was the service. It took nearly 30 minutes for the waiter to bring the bill and that was only after I had asked 3 times. Also as I said above the confusion about which food was on whose plate and also the delay with coffee at the end was infuriating.
In conclusion from what I've seen i think that this restaurant is a wanna be fancy restaurant whereas in reality it's just a shameless money grab. The only reason i don't give this place a 1 star is that I didn't get sick...
Read moreThe bakery cum eatery - Glen's Bakehouse is pretty good when it comes to the items they sell - mostly European snacks and savouries. Various French and German delicacies and in typical European way is available here. Yet it seems to be quite costly when compared to various other similar restaurants like "Hole in the Wall Cafe" which serves better Western food. Overall the eatery had good ambience, though the place was remodeled from another house like structure. And I can't help saying this that the items are heavily overpriced.
Well, I wanted to share an experience today and wanted to my thoughts on my suggestion.
Today evening (Aug-23-2025), I stopped by Glen's bakehouse in Jayanagar for some refreshments.
I odered some items - chicken puff (too much oily, less or meagre fillings), NewYirk style cheesecake (yummy, delicious), and a vanila donut (was microwaved and fillings were like hot molten lava inside).
Well, the food served was microwaved which I not at all prefer --- 1.) Due to the radiation risk it pose, and 2.) I hate overheated food items, and also especially if the inside of any food item to be terribly hot and outside remains comparatively cooler.
While taking a big bite of the delicious vanilla cream filled donut, it almost burned my mouth. As I took the bite the hot molten creamy filling, just popped out and spread across within my mouth and instantly it felt as if like molten lava flown out from a volcano. The exterior part of the donut was pretty cool, and when I held it in my hands it was only slightly warm, but that wasnt the case inside.
It's damn disgusting that in these eateries they straightaway microwave food items without checking if customer wants it so. It's better to ask and then only have it microwaved and served. Microwave ovens poses great radiation hazard and thereby in several countries like Japan they have banned microwave ovens completely..
In our country too we should be mindful and take into consideration such aspects and request if customer prefers their food to be microwaved...
Read moreI stumbled upon Glen’s Bake House in Jayanagar purely by chance while exploring the lanes near Jesus Call, and I must say, it turned out to be a delightful surprise! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm scent of freshly baked pastries and a cozy, brick-walled interior that instantly made me feel at ease. The place has a subtle charm — minimal yet inviting — with soft lighting and a touch of European café vibes.
The dessert display was a little sparse when I visited (probably because it was late in the evening), but every single item still looked incredibly tempting. I tried their signature Red Velvet Cupcake, and let me tell you, it was moist, rich, and had just the right amount of sweetness — not overpowering at all. The cream cheese frosting was smooth and melt-in-the-mouth. I followed it up with a slice of their Blueberry Cheesecake, and honestly, I could taste the freshness of the ingredients. It had a buttery biscuit base that paired beautifully with the tangy cream filling and sweet-tart berries on top.
What I appreciated the most, though, was the staff. Despite being busy, the person at the counter was polite, patient, and even gave me a couple of recommendations based on my taste preferences. That small gesture made my visit more personal and pleasant.
The ambiance here is perfect for a relaxed catch-up with friends, a quiet date, or even some solo time with a book and a cup of coffee. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which adds to the flexibility of your visit depending on the vibe you want. The prices are reasonable for the quality, hovering around ₹200–600, which felt fair given the craftsmanship in their bakes.
All in all, Glen’s Bake House in Jayanagar has definitely made it to my go-to list for baked treats in Bengaluru. If you're a dessert enthusiast or someone who appreciates a good cup of coffee with ambiance to match, this place is worth checking out. Just make sure to get there before the display runs low — their goodies are clearly in high demand, and for all the...
