Its one of those restaurants in Basvangudi which has crossed 50 years in serving finest south Indian dishes to the food lovers. Thanks to Zomato for adding this restaurant so quickly upon request.
Though this restaurant is famous for Khaali Dosa their other south indian dishes will be mind blowing too. After many days of planning recently I got a chance to visit this restaurant with my fellow foodies Naveen Suresh & Vinay Bhat on an evening foodie walk.
Restaurant ambiance is quite basic and 60-70's style. Its a self service restaurant and serving area is huge. Staffs and managers are too friendly and they serve with a genuine smile. Best part I observed in here is they print their food token in kannada number. First time ever in my life time I have saw that. There are two sit and eat area inside the restaurant. One opposite to serving area which is really huge and another near the billing counter which looks more like a family room.
FOOD: We ordered Khaara-Bath / Uppitu at first. It was amazing. The ginger taste was blended so well in deep. Probably one of the best uppitu I had in my life time. Khaali Dosa: Its Different than any other leading Khaali Dosa restaurants in the town and its too soft. It easily blends with chutney and tastes too good. Masal Dosa: I won't say it was great. But it definitely satisfied my taste buds. Chutney they serve in here is just good feels no special.
EVERYTHING ELSE: Since its an old hotel you might feel it bit clumsy, but forget that factor and believe that you are tasting a 5 decade old secret recipe. Everything turns out to be great.
FINAL VERDICT: Just pay a visit to grab khaali dosa & uppittu. Who knows you might fall in love with...

Visited this place for Breakfast.
Location: Located near the VV Puram Circle..
Parking: Street side parking, can be an issue during the peak hour for 4 wheelers.
Ambience: Old wine in a new bottle. This restaurant has been recently renovated and opened again, a lot more seating tables have been made available now.
Service: A self-service place, so no much comments.
Food Taste: My all time favourite was the sambar dipped idlis and Vada, so even now it tastes the same. The let-down has been the Khali dose, it has lost its charm, did not find it tasting good this time . Even Uppittu was also average, but the Veg bath / Pulao on Sundays still tastes the same which is very good.
Pricing: Moderately priced, no complaints.
Payment Options: They accept cash & UPI as well.
My Verdict: A legacy restaurant, I have been frequenting for many years now. A once in a while visit is...
Read morePros: Old hotel, simple South Indian dishes limited to about 10. Cons: There are lots of cons. Super dusty /rusted pipes which are not cleaned for maybe a decade. Bad taste. I found 2 ants in idli, so hygiene is the worst. Only seating for about 16 people, no more ! No place for even standing ! Conclusion: I used to visit this hotel 30 yrs back, but now just ignore this hotel, having street food is safer ! Look, this hotel is ok for those busy folks who have nowhere to eat, those busy office-goers who'll eat anything out on the street, just to fill their stomachs, but definitely recommended for the average guy who wants to eat...
