7 months ago my comments were - "Yet to open new vegetarian restaurant in Jayanagar 5th block. New udupi upahar hotel".
Today in seven months I am moving the ratings from 5 star to 3 star as the service has dropped from heaven to earth.
The south Indian food taste is good with tasty and crispy masala Dosa, rava idli,idli & vada, coffee. Deserts and fresh fruit juice and milk shakes with really fresh fruits are all too good.
Clean, well maintained, smiling and customer oriented staff and owners. Somehow all seemed fine until..
The day we had a North Indian dish and things were never same from there on. The kulcha, naan, pulka, stuffed items are priced as per standards of the market as the dishes are very expensive as they are soft to tear with two fingerz, ghee dripping, tasty than roti. However the chef had made all those items dry as bone, tough enough to use as my cars tyre second layer to last for 5k kms and uncooked in centre. We thought this was probably the evening rush, second time will be a charm but same story different day. We thought weekend rush might have pushed the cook to do so.
Then came the lazy weekday where customers are pretty dry and sitting at home and lazing in front of TV and this being festival season almost empty hotel and the food was terrible and same as ever. This three experiences in 4 months changed our mind fully to never go for north Indian food here and post that had told the cashier, staff supervisor, kitchen supervisor with no changes after 2 months of complaining left North Indian dishes here.
Worst was on 23rd Jan 2019 to find a hair strand in Baby corn chilli. Thats the last straw one wants, who knows what's next surprise in South Indian. Read moreI visited in Jan 1st 2022. I regularly visit. Every alternative day. While attending to my office. I had very bad experiance. The plate was filthy, un cleaned and served ( chow chow bath and coffee) I requested and shown to the person and requested him to change I think my bill no is 246 &247. He didn't care and pushed plate to me u promptly took and went. I have seen him though he didn't utter a word neither me. His feeling is when the customers are crowed with hundreds bills who care me for Rs 65.00 that too alternative day. Without going on holidays may be 24 days working days. Out of wich hardly 10 to 12 days.with not more than 650 bill for month. Who care such fellow as like me. First I thought I should speak to management office is beside food delivery counter. Later felt it new year Jan 1. Why should I feel.and discuss with them. Am I big customer to them not at all. They why should I go and feel like this just forget and forgive. Just just today is alernative day I came same way felt bad but common I didn't go inside. Finally I stopped going there. Every other day I attend New shanthi uphar I had my break fast and went to office in BANNERGHATTA main road. If supplier or poor worker done it I don't want put a post, but unfortunately he is managerial person( after some minutes time I have seen him in cash counter) ok I have no issue. Read moreIf I could give a negativ marking for service, I would give a -5. This place has varied menu, no doubt. "Self service" ( which means one stand in the queue to collect a coupon, go to the "right counter only", collect the food, find a place to eat, go to the billing counter to collect a few tissues, again go to the billing for more food or beverage...well after all this, if you go to the desired counter and pass the bill to the wrong person, the item is not made and you can get shouted at. Any need? One pays for the food, self services, gets to meet frustrated, angry staff behind the counters???. Happened to me at the coffee counter. When I went to give the coffee coupon, the person was missing because he was hunting for horlics power, so I passed the coupon to the "juice" maker boy who was doing nothing, to pass the coupon on to the coffeemaker later on, while I carried back Juice and water to my table, when I went back to the counter to collect my coffee, I get yelled at for passing the coupon to the wrong guy and that he will only make coffee if the coupon is passed only to him. Hmm there goes the thrill of going out and eating. Do we deserve this kinda non service??? 🤔 Udupi upahaar, "the service industry" have frustrated and unfriendly staff. Hmm upto eachone.
