You'll find photos of food and the ambience of the place from other reviews. I'm here to share my honest review just about the food. The jolada rotti oota.

I visited the place around 1:15 PM on Saturday. Not crowded. We got a table immediately. They serve food/oota/lunch meal on a banana leaf. The service is quick. Once the leaf is laid out, there's constant service of food, side dishes, salad, buttermilk/majjige, etc.

They specialise in maavina hannu seekarne during summers. Small and pulpy mangoes cooked with spices. It's the best ever. You'll love it. It's so worth visiting the place just for it. In the meals, they also serve you holige/obbattu and it was hot. That's really good and I'm happy to get it hot.

You have unlimited supply of jolada rotti (jowar flattened bread) that's straight off the stove/fire. They serve it with cubes of butter. All the curries or gravies they give are good combination with the jolada rotti. The kaalu palya/beans cooked in gravy and ennegai/brinjal gravy are my favourite.

They also serve rice with sambar, rasam and curd is given in a bowl. There's beeda/sweet paan, ice cream and fruit salad. On the table, you'll find 2 different powders.. one is dark brown and one is orange red. You must try them with curd and rotti. Too good.

The ambience of the place is good, decent. There's live music performance in the place and it amps up your authentic south Indian lunch vibe, sitting under a hut kind of roof on a summer afternoon.

Amazing experience, top quality food and superb taste. Must visit for sure. I hope they maintain the quality throughout. Much appreciation to Kamat Bugle rock team for the jolada rotti oota and the experience...

Disappointing Traditional North Karnataka Dining Experience

We visited Kamat Bugle Rock in Bengaluru for a traditional North Karnataka thali experience with family, but sadly, it did not live up to expectations. Known for serving authentic North Karnataka meals, we were looking forward to a hearty and satisfying lunch. However, the overall experience was underwhelming.

First of all, the place was extremely crowded, which made it hard to find a seat and created a chaotic atmosphere—not ideal when dining with family. The restaurant was clearly not prepared to handle the rush, and the crowd was poorly managed.

The thali offered a decent spread of typical North Karnataka dishes like jowar roti, chutneys, palya, and sweets, but the taste was just average. Some items felt stale, and the presentation was rushed. With Kamat’s reputation, we expected much more attention to quality.

Cleanliness was a major concern. The tables were not cleaned properly, and the overall hygiene of the dining area was disappointing. It didn’t feel like a clean or welcoming space for families.

To make matters worse, the service was inattentive. Despite asking multiple times for certain items, the staff didn’t respond or follow through. This made the experience frustrating and stressful.

Overall, I would not recommend Kamat Bugle Rock for a family outing or for anyone seeking a quality traditional North Karnataka meal. I’d rate the experience 1...

STUP*D PLACE, WE WENT ON 21 OCT 2023 FOR LUNCH, U WON'T LIKE IT IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO BEG FOR FOOD. WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO BEG SO SUFFERED A LOT. THEY SERVED SABJI THEN LEFT US LIKE THAT, WE ASKED R U GOING GO SERVE RICE OR ROTI, ETC THEN THEY GAVE POLI AND LEFT US, WE KEPT WAITING THEN ASKED R U GOING TO SERVE ANYTHING ELSE OR WHAT, THEY GAVE ONE ROTI AND THEN LEFT US AGAIN, WE TOTALLY GOT FED UP, EVERY TIME ASKING THEM TO SERVE RICE AS THEY KEPT TAKING 5 MINS FOR RICE THOUGH THERE IS NO OTHER CUSTOMER IN THE PLACE WE WENT EARLY MEAL TIME AT 12PM. IT WAS SO ANNOYING EXPERIENCE AS THE SERVICE WAS VERY POOR AS THE PEOPLE WHO SERVE FOOD NEVER BOTHER TO CHECK IF CUSTOMER NEED FOOD OR IF THEY FINISHED. NO ONE BOTHER TO COME CHECK IF WE NEED ANYTHING TO EAT, WE WERE EXPECTING SOMEONE TO KEEP SERVING AS WE KEEP EATING. BAD EXPERIENCE AS WE FELT LIKE WE ARE EATING FREE FOOD IN CHARITY AS NO ONE BOTHERED OR INTERESTED TO SERVE, FOOD WAS ALSO OK, NOT TOO GOOD. IF U LIKE TO BEG FOR FOOD THEN PLEASE TRY ONCE. WE GOT SO FRUSTRATED FINALLY WE CANCELLED OTHER PLANS FOR THE DAY AND WENT HOME TO SLEEP AND FORGET THIS EXPERIENCE. ALSO THE GUY WHO SERVED FOOD POURED FULL GLASS OF WATER ON MY SON'S PLATE BY MISTAKE WITH ALL THE DISHES SERVED ON IT WHICH MADE MORE MESS AS WE AGAIN HAVE TO WAIT FOR THESE GUYS TO CLEAN WHICH TOOK ABOUT 5-10 MINS DURING THE MEAL, FOOD GOT WASTED TOO BECAUSE OF THIS BUT THEY HAVE BIG BOARD SAYING...

" MUST VISIT PLACE FOR NORTH KARNATAKA MEALS " Jolada Rotti Meals is an North Karnataka inspired cusine which consists of various items to satisfy one's hunger pangs & the meals is totally vegetarian. This place we visited is located in one of the historic locations of Bengaluru's, Basavanagudi. This restaurant is buzzing with crowd with an average wait time of 5 to 10 minutes to find seating. We ordered Jolada Rotti Special Meals which consisted of various items starting with papad served with methi leaves & sliced onions, junka, mirch/chilly bajji, holige served with ghee, kosambari , Jowar roti served with a cube of butter, mosaru baaji, kaalu palya, sabaski palya, brinjal palya /yennegai badnekai & rice served with ghee, sambar & rasam, with a bowl of curd plus buttermilk & to finish it off with fruit salad & ice-cream plus sweet paan. The entire meal was unlimited & had an absolutely authentic taste to it with a great mix of flavours. The service of this place is good & they make sure you are attended even though the place can get occupied pretty quick the staff is friendly & courteous. Overall we really enjoyed our Jolada Rotti Special Meals & we recommend the place for you to visit. Only con about the place is that the management needs to organise the place properly & make it more planned & clean though the service is top-notch. --Follow me on instagram @bengaluru.food_hunters--

An Authentic North Karnataka Feast at Kamat Bugle Rock! 🌿🍛 Visited this iconic spot to try their special Jolada Rotti Oota Thali – and it was nothing short of a traditional Brahmin North Karnataka experience, beautifully served on a fresh banana leaf. The thali was an absolute celebration of flavors and textures: 🍽️ What we had: Jolada Rotti with butter – warm, rustic and comforting Mango Seekarane/Pachidi – sweet, tangy, and refreshing Curd Raitha & Kosambari – perfect coolers Mirchi Bajji – crisp and mildly spicy Rice with Rasam & Sambhar – homely and soulful Holige (Obbattu) – soft, sweet, and just melted in the mouth Yennegai Curry – deliciously spiced stuffed brinjal curry Spinach Kootu, Soppu Curries, Kaalu, Jhunka – packed with nutrition and local flavour Shenga Pudi – nutty and perfect with rotti Uppinkai (Pickles), Papad, Green Salad Fruit Salad with Vanilla Ice Cream – a sweet ending Beeda – the traditional after-meal digestif The thali is generous, wholesome, and served with a lot of love – the staff is courteous and explains each item if you're curious.

We used to visit Kamat near Hoodi Circle years back. Since it was taken down due to metro construction we have been hunting for a kamat for long. We (a family of 4) were all excited to visit this outlet on a weekend. First thing, no dedicated parking is available for this hotel; nor there is a valet parking. If you are lucky, you might get parking in one of the gullies opposite to the hotel and there is no covered parking as well. Hotel is in 3rd floor and the lift is available. Seating capacity is less and quite congested I would say. But the service was quick. Hobbattu (their trademark food item) will cost 19/- if you wanted more than one. They also have kids meals costing 150/- and make sure to specifically ask them. And no other items available, other than the meals. Food quality is good; hobbattu, jolad rotti, brinjal kootu etc were all good. Mango kootu was average. Overall we liked the hotel, service and food; we will definitely visit again.
