Some restaurants are good and give good food, while some restaurants give us those moments to savour when you take a bite and must keep your cutlery down and close your eyes and devour every morsel of divinity. While the ambience, the atmosphere and the aesthetics were all classic with a touch of luxury, it's the food that steals the entire show. I went with my friends, and the wide menu took a good chunk of our time in reading and examining every food item. The choices are just too vast and it's really tricky to choose one. For the starters we ordered Peri Peri French Fries, Pepper Corn Cheese Balls and Spicy Bean Nachos. The Peri Peri French Fries were more of a snack than a starter which we regretted to have ordered, but the fries were just too simple yet perfect. Although a spicy Mayo dip would have been preferred to dunk our fries. Either way, they were well seasoned and spiced and were texturally perfect. The Spicy Bean Nachos were exquisite. In house, crispy corn chips generously dressed is spicy bean/rajma gravy with wholesome Mexican spices, cheese sauce and cream and all aromatic and fresh veggies. The dish was just too authentic and astounding. It's no wonder there was quarrel between us friends to get hold of the more fabulously dressed chip from the palette. The Pepper Corn Cheese Balls were extraordinary. So moreish, so savoury and so formidable. It almost felt too good to be true. I could have another plate and more any day of the week. And to conclude the appetizers section, it's hard to choose which one stood the best, all three were jarring delicacies and each one of us were well and truly satisfied by their generosity in flavour. Coming to the main course, we ordered for Paneer Tikka Masala, Three Butter Rotis and a Veg Lasagna. The Paneer Tikka Masala was great but not what i was expecting. If i be honest i was expecting spiced and charred Paneer cubes with a rich, aromatic and spicy gravy finished with a touch of cream and butter. However, the curry still stood triumphant and it was addictive. The Rotis were on point with generous or dare i say, copious amounts of butter dripping off each Roti and roasted to perfection. The combination of the bread and curry stood absolutely triumphant and this is a serious compliment. And then comes the royally dressed and ultra-luxuriously cheesy vegetable lasagna. Very stringy, very gooey, very saucy and all good things happen to have been included in this big plate. Perfectly cooked, soft, and mouth melting good. It's just another absolute triumph. All in all, Shiv Sagar may sound too south Indian, but it's a winner at every cuisine it has to offer for all cuisines. The costs are just reasonable and so is the service. I could back to it again and again and i shall do that some time since there is just too much in that menu that sounds mouth-watering-ly good! All vegetarians, do yourself a favour and treat yourself at this adorable restaurant offering some of the best foods in the city at very convenient prices and in the middle of quaint and qualitative...
Read moreAnand Sweets on Commercial Street was our outright choice for lunch/brunch during one of our recent visits to the area. The moment you step in, you’re greeted by an inviting aroma that promises a treat for the senses. The shop itself is clean and well-organized, with a modern interior that reflects its high standards, while still maintaining a very traditional vibe. The eatery located upstairs is where we ended up having our meal.
We placed our order that included the following:
Chola Bhatura, Thali, Spl Pav Bhaji, Mix veg paratha, Masala Chaas, Sweet Lassi (bottled) and Paneer tikka. There was a bit of a wait time but it all added up to us getting ready to enjoy the dishes and savour them one morsel at a time. The chaas and lassi were definitely very good and would definitley recommend the lassi (sweet with pieces of yogurt cream make it out of the world). The Paneer tikka was juicy and cooked to perfection and served with love and lot of taste. Chola Bhatura was amazing as well and we loved every bit/bite of it. The veg thali definitely added gold to glory and is a definite recommendation in case you fancy one.
The variety of sweets here is impressive, offering a perfect mix of classic Indian sweets like Kaju Katli, Rasmalai, and Gulab Jamun, to more regional specialties like Mysore Pak and Sandesh. Each sweet is freshly prepared, and you can tell that quality ingredients have been used. Their Kaju Katli, in particular, is soft and melts in your mouth with the perfect balance of sweetness. The Rasmalai is light and spongy, soaked in creamy milk that makes each bite heavenly. If you have a sweet tooth, Anand Sweets is your paradise.
The service here is polite and efficient. Even during busy times, the staff is courteous and quick to attend to customers, ensuring that you don’t have to wait long to get your order. They also offer packaging services for those looking to take sweets home or gift them.
The place is lively almost all the time , with a constant buzz from customers who are either picking up their favorite treats or indulging in the sweets right there or grabbing a meal or two in the eating/restaurant section of the store.
While Anand Sweets is slightly on the higher side compared to smaller sweet shops, the premium you pay is justified by the quality and freshness of the sweets.
Anand Sweets at Commercial Street (am pretty sure other locations would be equally good and amazing as well) is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the rich flavors of traditional Indian sweets and snacks. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this place promises to satisfy your cravings and leave you coming back for more.

Read moreWonder having been in Bangalore for more than two years now, but not knowing about 'RS Shiv Sagar' - an amazing eating joint in such a prominent and famous location right in the heart of the city.
Nonetheless, I got an opportunity to visit 'Shiv Sagar' for a family lunch with my better half last weekend. The place was guzzling with people in the afternoon and the energy was vibrant, multiplied many folds by the white and cream interiors giving a very fine-dine look and feel to the place.
We were a group of six and ordered 'Gobi Manchurian', 'Pav Bhaji', 'Rava Masala Dosa', 'Dal Makhni'', 'Paneer Rogan Josh', 'Veg Pulao' and 'Basket of Breads'. 'Rava Masala Dosa' was prepared for us on a a special request as our Grandmother (for whom we had actually planned the outing), who wanted to try their Dosa..Thanks to Shiv Sagar' management they accepted the order, though South Indian delicacies are available for breakfast or only after 3:30 PM. Everything tasted delicious, especially the 'Dal Makhni' and 'Paneer Rogan Josh', the testimony of which is that in a matter of no time, the serving plates for both the dishes were found spik and spun. Veg Pulao (served with raita) was also delectable, with each grain of rice easily distinguishable from the other, bestowed with an amazing aroma and taste.
The service (despite a heavy rush of people on a Sunday afternoon) was amazing and up to the mark. To add to it, the manager made sure to visit each table after completion of order, asking the guests how their experience was and if there is anything they could improve upon - a gesture not very commonplace !!
Would recommend a visit to 'Shiv Sagar' for sure - a must visit family vegetarian place for good food and time..Truly a value...
