A Culinary Sojourn at Thai High at the Qutab: Where Authentic Thai Cuisine Meets Romantic Ambiance
Craving a serene yet delightful dining experience amidst the bustling city of Delhi? Look no further than Thai High at the Qutab, an enchanting rooftop restaurant nestled against the backdrop of the iconic Qutab Minar. Recently, I had the pleasure of indulging in an evening of fine dining at this picturesque establishment, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment you step foot into Thai High, you are greeted with a sense of tranquility that is rare to find in the heart of a metropolis. The ambiance is nothing short of magical, especially as the sun sets and the restaurant is bathed in a warm, inviting glow. Whether you choose to dine indoors or on the open terrace, every corner of Thai High offers breathtaking views of the majestic Qutab Minar, making it the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or a special celebration.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. Thai High takes pride in serving authentic Thai cuisine, and boy, does it deliver! From the moment you take your first bite of their meticulously crafted dishes, you can taste the freshness and authenticity of each ingredient. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring that even the lightest eaters will leave feeling satisfied.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling a variety of dishes, including: Sauteed Vegetables: Garden-fresh mixed vegetables tossed with black pepper and wine, bursting with flavor. Spring Rolls: Crispy and golden, with a delectable filling that left me craving for more. Som Tam: A spicy raw papaya salad that was both refreshing and flavorful. Tofu and Mixed Vegetables: Silken tofu and a medley of vegetables sautéed with chili and lemongrass, a perfect balance of textures and spices. Khai Ob Saparod Koong: Thai fried rice with pineapple and cashew nuts, a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors.
Each dish was a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs at Thai High, and I found myself savoring every bite.
Apart from the exquisite food and mesmerizing ambiance, I must commend the impeccable service at Thai High. The staff was courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. While the wait for the orders may be slightly longer due to the fine dining experience, trust me when I say that it is well worth it.
Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning a few practicalities. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the restaurant offers valet parking for added convenience. Additionally, the elevator may feel a tad dated, but it only adds to the charm of the overall experience.
In conclusion, my visit to Thai High at the Qutab was nothing short of extraordinary. From the impeccable service to the exquisite cuisine and breathtaking views, every aspect of the dining experience surpassed my expectations. While it may be a little on the expensive side, the value for money, especially with discounts, makes it a worthwhile indulgence. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner spot or simply craving authentic Thai cuisine in a stunning setting, Thai High at the Qutab is a must-visit...
Read moreI had gone after seeing good reviews, but my experience at Aban was extremely disappointing. I will never want to visit again, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends. Both the managers were extremely rude and arrogant. This was the first time I witnessed customer interaction like this — in the hospitality industry, people usually speak politely, just like their staff did, who were quite humble. But I was shocked by the attitude of the managers.
First of all, we were denied access to the upper section of the beauty café which has a view, saying there was a private party going on. So we had to sit downstairs where there was no view of Qutub Minar. We went there to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately, the cake didn’t arrive by 12 o’clock. When I went to the counter to inquire, they said someone had gone downstairs to get the cake — which meant they didn’t even have an in-house bakery, and this was hidden from us. They brought a very ordinary cake, the kind you get in any regular shop — it wasn’t premium at all.
However, when I went to talk to the manager about the delay, saying the cake not arriving on time was quite embarrassing for me, he instead told me that I should be thankful they even arranged a cake for me. I was shocked by his way of speaking. When I tried to talk again while leaving, people told me the manager had left as his shift was over. The other manager I spoke to then also had the same rude attitude and started giving excuses. We ended up arguing, and the whole celebration was ruined.
The overall experience was terrible for me. I will never...
Read moreThe food is genuinely good, but unfortunately, the poor service quality overshadows it.
To begin with, they charge ₹150 for a water bottle, which I understand might be due to the fancy packaging—but the quality doesn't match the price. It would be wise for the restaurant to reconsider their water supplier, as the current one doesn't justify the cost. For a 1-litre bottle, ₹50 would’ve been more reasonable.
They also declined to serve regular filtered water, citing that their filter was no longer working. On top of that, they didn’t have coffee available during my visit, which was disappointing. Moreover, they were serving hookah in the indoor air-conditioned seating area, which felt quite out of place and uncomfortable.
What bothered me the most was the way they handled the service charge. When I asked to have it removed, the staff created unnecessary drama and said, “Service Charge is mandatory as you have booked from Zomato.”
I've visited this restaurant more than 6 times over the last 3 months. The first two times, the service was genuinely good and I voluntarily paid the service charge—and even left a 5-star review back then. However, my last two visits were disappointing enough that I won’t be returning.
To the management: If partnering with Zomato is affecting your margins, please consider discontinuing discounts there. Regular customers like me, who come frequently, end up bearing the brunt of this tension between your pricing model and service quality. It was good while it lasted—but I won’t be...
