Karim’s is the iconic restaurant in Delhi that has been serving food to the common man since 1913 with its origin going back to the Mughal Era . Karim’s is a historic restaurant located near Jama Masjid in Old delhi. In the mid 19th century, Mohammed Aziz was a cook in the royal court of Mughal Emperor at the Red Fort, but he left when the emperor was dethroned. However, Haji Karimuddin, one of Aziz’s son, moved back to Delhi with the aim of opening a dhaba to cater to the people coming to the capital from all over India (sometimes even from Pakistan). Haji Karimuddin started the dhaba by selling just two dishes that include alu gosht (mutton with potatoes) and daal served with Rumali roti. It was in 1913 that Haji Karimuddin established the Karim Hotel in Gali Kababian, near Jama Masjid in Delhi and soon his restaurant earned the name and fame by serving the delicious Royal food to the common man. What’s In It? Currently, Karim’s is a well-established hotel along with a restaurant that has customers coming from all over India to try the food. Highly recommended dishes here are their kebabs, tandoori bhara, mutton korma, mutton stew, chicken Mughlai and chicken Jahangiri. We tried almost all the dishes and we have to give a special shout-out to the seekh kebab that literally falls apart (it’s that soft!). It tastes as good as we expected it to and the hype is absolutely justified. The curries are equally delicious and you won’t be disappointed if you eat a little more than your stomach can take (trust us, it’s worth it). The success of this hotel has another reason that a very few people know. The owner Zain Saab takes care of all the aspects of the kitchen himself. From recipes to the tasting, he is vigilant to offer the same taste and food quality that Karim’s promised all those years ago. Zain Saab’s intent is to always provide his customers with the same care and love that Karim’s was built on. “We’ve not made any changes in this place because when the older generations revisit, they immediately understand that this is the original taste. They even have a Nayaab Brain Curry, if you are in the mood to experiment. Pay a visit to this restaurant if you want a taste of the royal Mughlai food and if you want to experience the Old Delhi charm with majestic views of the Jama Masjid. Please visit and enjoy your food. Address: Karim’s, 16, Gali Kababian, Jama Masjid, 110006 Maine yahn ka mutton korma, mutton mughlai, keema and khamiri roti ,rumali roti all varieties are fantastic with flavourful. Authencity of mutton varieties and khameeri roti is here.

TL;DR: Perfect definition of Over-hype! 👎🏽 If you want to try Delhi Mughlai food for the first time - Avoid this place...! Me and my friends went to explore Jama Masjid Area to visit the Masjid and then expected to have some yummy food for lunch. The only mistake we made is that we fell into the trap of the hype created for Karims! We ordered one of their chicken kababs, one chicken curry preparation and Khamiri roti and a Naan. 1) The Kabab was served, it was ok-good- nothing extraordinary. 2) Now comes the chicken gravy with Khamiri roti- Well it was a disaster! -> We were having the Khamiri roti first time, we had heard a lot about it how it's supposed to be soft so that even an old man without teeth can easily have it. But, we didn't know "Karims Khamiri" roti would be soggy (vapour se geela ho gaya tha jab tak plate me laa ke diye) plus it was having a weird smell- khuch samaan ek bandh kamre me rakh ke 1-2 saal chhod ke jaate phir jab kholte jaisa smell aata bilkul waisa! -> Chicken Gravy - Never ever have i ever had such a tasteless chicken gravy. You can see in the picture, it looks appealing, but it tastes sweet and weird. The chicken was no doubt tender but tasteless. -> The Naan was not really a Naan, it was Khameeri roti with butter- it was horrible too and again it was also soggy. Service: Not customer friendly. It feels as if they are doing charity by serving you food. (Ahsaan kare jaisa service karte) Cost : It's not worth it. You can get 100% better food in Jamia Nagar area. Verdict : I didn't like the food, service. Won't recommend anyone. 👎🏽

A Mughlai Feast in the Heart of Old Delhi Karim's is a culinary institution that needs no introduction. Nestled in the bustling lanes of Old Delhi, near the iconic Jama Masjid, this restaurant has been tantalizing taste buds for over a century. Ambiance: Don't expect a fancy dining experience. Karim's is all about the food. The no-frills, bustling atmosphere adds to the charm, transporting you back in time. Be prepared to share tables and navigate through crowds – it's all part of the Karim's experience. Food: The star of the show, undoubtedly, is the food. Karim's is renowned for its authentic Mughlai cuisine. The succulent kebabs, whether it's the tender mutton seekh or the juicy chicken tikka, are a must-try. The rich and flavorful curries, like the mutton korma and chicken changezi, are simply divine. The biryani, though not as famous as some other places, is still worth a taste. Don't forget to pair your meal with their soft, buttery naan or roomali roti. Service: Given the constant rush, service can be a bit chaotic. But the staff is generally efficient and friendly. Don't hesitate to ask for recommendations if you're overwhelmed by the menu. Overall: Karim's is a quintessential Delhi dining experience. While it may not be for everyone due to the crowded and basic setting, the food is undeniably exceptional. If you're a food lover seeking a taste of authentic Mughlai cuisine, Karim's is a must-visit. Just be prepared to embrace the vibrant chaos and savor every bite.

I've been a regular at Karim's since my late teens, so I'm quite familiar with most of the dishes on their menu. I'm not biased when I say that I love their food. I'm a bit of a patron, you could say. This was my first time visiting the restaurant with my wife, and it was a special occasion. We started with the Mutton Burra and the Mutton Seekh Kababs, which are two of the best starters on the menu. The Mutton Burra is char-grilled mutton that is marinated in a blend of spices for 12 hours. It is tender and flavorful, and the char-grilling gives it a smoky taste that is truly delicious. The Mutton Seekh Kababs are also excellent. They are perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For the main course, we had the world-famous Karim's Mutton Korma, which is rated as the 2nd best korma in the world by the Food Atlas. It is a rich and creamy curry that is made with mutton, cashews, and yogurt. It is served with Tandoori Khameeri Roti and Sheermal, which are two types of naan bread that are perfect for soaking up the sauce. The service at Karim's could have been a bit better. Our waiter was attentive, but he was not very knowledgeable about the menu. He also made a few mistakes when taking our order. However, the food more than made up for the subpar service. Overall, I had a great experience at Karim's. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was charming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a truly authentic Mughal cuisine experience.

I recently dined at Karim's Hotel, and it was an extraordinary food experience. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the roti, mutton korma and mutton nahari, which were, without a doubt, the best I've ever had in my life. Yes, it might be a bit on the expensive side, but every bite was worth every penny. Karim's Hotel offers a truly authentic and well-prepared menu that pays homage to its rich culinary heritage. The flavors are a testament to their dedication to preserving traditional recipes. I was truly impressed with the quality and taste of their dishes. The mutton korma was out of this world, and the mutton nihari was a symphony of flavors, beautifully enhanced by the rich and aromatic spices used. It's evident that their chefs have mastered the art of creating exquisite dishes that leave a lasting impression. What's even more fascinating is the historical connection - knowing that their ancestors were part of the Mughal royal kitchen adds a layer of charm and authenticity to the dining experience. This lineage shines through in every dish they serve. In conclusion, Karim's Hotel is a culinary gem that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Yes, it might be a bit pricey, but the quality, authenticity, and flavors of their dishes make it an absolute must-try. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their incredible cuisine. Hats off to Karim's Hotel for serving such amazing food!

Karim's Hotel or Karim's is a historic restaurant located near jama masjid, Gali Kababian, Old Delhi, India. Established in 1913, In mid 19th century, Mohammed Aziz was a cook in the royal court of mughal emporer, however after the Bahadur Shah Zafar was exiled, he left the city for meerut and later Ghaziabad. However, in 1911, when Delhi Durbar was held for the coronation of the King George V, one of Aziz's son Haji Karimuddin moved back to Delhi with an innovative idea of opening a Dhaba to cater the people coming from all over India to join the coronation. Today, the fourth generation is running the show with Karim Hotels Pvt. Ltd. at Jama Masjid, Expect meaty Mughlai treats such as mutton burrah(marinated chops), delicious mutton Mughlai, and the breakfast mutton-and-bread combo nahari. Numerous branches, but this no-frills, multi roomed courtyard location is the oldest and best. During my last visit i tried mutton korma, chicken tandoori, mutton kabab, chicken biryani with khamiri Roti no comparison of food with any food chain serving carnivore food one more thing i noticed was a lot of foreign travellers were sitting and enjoying delicious mughlai cuisines. One reason for this is due to taste its less spicy if i compared to other food chains serving mughlai. Best way to reach here is metro or public conveyance as this place is always crowded. One may find it difficult to grab a seat due to long queue still one should visit at least once.
