MIABELLA — Restaurant in Delhi

Pre independence day celebration with friends and what better way than to walk in the lanes of Hauz Khaas; reminiscing about the Golden age and then quickly ducking into Mia Bella for a nice "romantic" evening with friends.

The entry area is a simplistic yet beautifully decorated plane with music and soft lights that were looking extremely beautiful against the evening sky.

We took a lift to the 2nd floor(the place has 4 levels of seating) and food a comfortable seat near a decorated window staring into the large gumbads of Hauz Khaas.

Our food journey started with a generous order of delicious food including Caponata Bruschetta, Jumbo Prawns, Pizza Verdure, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Creamy Garlic Penne Pasta and a big plate of Venetian Chicken Steak. The Caponata was a topping of Sweet and Sour chicken tenders on a well grilled Bruschetta with a light coating of garlic oil. The overall texture of the dish was good with well seasoned chicken pieces. Jumbo Prawns were normal sized prawn pieces in a garlic cheese gravy with a healthy dollop of mashed potatoes in the middle. The gravy has lip smacking good but we were expecting Jumbo prawns so🤷‍♂️ Pizza Verdure was topped with a few green vegetables but the crust was heavenly. The pizza was just cheesy enough for me and the size was decent enough for all 5 of us. Wild Mushroom Risotto took a bit of time to be prepared by the aldante rice bits with a generous inclusion of cheese, butter and mild spices in the sauce was a perfect way to greet oneself with the Italian cuisine(With a name like Mia Bella, your Italian should be atleast passable in my eyes👀). The Penne pasta was decent, nothing mind blowing or revolutionary in its flavouring but the sauce was again lip smacking good with a olive oil drenched garlic bread. The Venetian steak for me was a bit too sweet in its flavour coating. The chicken was decently prepared with no bone pieces intruding our experience but the sauce was too sweet and the dollop of mashed potatoes and greens did little to elevate the taste.

Our food adventure was accompanied by refreshing glasses of Ice Tea Sangria, Cold Coffee and Mia Bella Mojito. All were decent enough to be enjoyed on a cool evening.

My only peeve with the restaurant is that the serving staff was either under prepared or ill trained to handle groups. We had to repeatedly ask for glasses of water or for refills and I had to ask atleast 4-5 times for our bill to be presented. All of this was enough to sour our evening experience and start a discussion on this topic. The music was a bit too loud for the restaurant to carry a proper romantic ambience that it might be going for.

In the end, the place is solid enough both cuisine wise and ambience wise but the staff do need a fresh course in basic customer handling.

One of the most beautiful rooftop places in Hauz Khas. The soft acoustic music is what makes this place perfect for a peaceful catchup with your partner and family! Great conversations brew with a magnificent view of the lush green Hauz Khas fort.

Service doesn't take a lot of time and the staff is polite and courteous.

Recommendations -

The Veg Artichoke Pizza - Freshly baked, with perfect amount of cheese and veggies. Thin crust and infused with flavours.

The Mia Bella Cocktail

I didn't like the Cottage Cheese Shashlik platter having Pita, Hummus and grilled cottage cheese with bell peppers. Pita bread was dry and hard to chew. Cottage cheese was flavourless and devoid of salt as well. Ruined the whole experience, otherwise it would have been a 5 star from my side!

Forgot to show Zomato Gold and the steward refused to consider it later., Almost all restaurants consider it even after the bill gets generated and I have never faced any hassle but here they were too adamant to accept. This is basic hospitality. Well, not deducting any points for this as I don't want to ruin the efforts of stewards and chefs because of some over stringent management rules! Was very disappointing though!

I'm so absolutely dissatisfied with the service here. I paid INR 3450 as advance to arrange a birthday decoration and a cake for someone very dear to me. After charging a whooping amount neither did they prepare the decoration as instructed nor was the cake worth it. The happy birthday and name had been smudged on the cake and not one staff member had even bothered to check it. This completely ruined the evening and my very dearly planned surpise. To top it further the staff was lazy, inhospitable and uninterested. They had live music, the least they could do is have the artist wish happy birthday. After all this i got a bill with 5% service charge! The manager was quite arrogant at first but i did not accept the cake or the charges for it including the service charge. Honestly, who cares about ambience when the staff is so pathetic! 2500 Rs for a decoration and they couldn't even place balloons. The cake was from theobroma and they charged me 950 rs for a less than half kg cake. Their cakes cost way less than that. 500 comission on a cake and close to 2000 rs comission on decoration and still such shitty arrangement. Shame on...
