This place used to be a plush restaurant with the same cuisine. They don't have the name chefs, portion size, ambience, alcohol license or service anymore. They've just retained the location, menu and prices. The food isn't bad, but definitely not worth the price if you're paying an undiscounted bill. The 35% discount we got through an app made it just about worth it. They used to have a small balcony with a sliding door to allow for smokers to get their fix. That sliding door has been removed so they treat the entire dining area as a smoking zone now. Given the local cafe type ambience, that would probably work... if the prices were a little more reasonable. They've put a few large air coolers around which take up lots of the space, but they do still run the air conditioning units - which might be a bit more effective and efficient if they still had a balcony door to close. We may have confused them a bit with asking about the difference between the two types of momos and they got us the wrong ones. There were 3 adults and one 2 year old eating. We ordered 1 plate of mutton momos with jhol, 1 shapta, 1 Phokso, 1 Chicken datchi and 2 extra tingmos (one comes with the datchi). 3 lime sodas 1 watermelon juice 10 minutes later we were told that shapta wasn't available so we ordered 1 dry thukpa. When this was over, we still needed more, so ordered another datchi - and we don't really have very large appetites (especially the 2 year old). The drinks were in large glasses, but the food portion sizes are...
Read moreWe had no idea how amazing this place was until we checked in. Pristine views, amazing staff and is truly a paradise amongst the chaos of hkv. Seems like you’re sitting in wooden cafe in The Himalayas, which is exactly what the lama kitchen is trying to achieve!
The food was hands down, delicious! With so many good surprises that i didn’t think I would love. We ordered a lot of food from all of their sections and each dish, was incredibly diverse yet delicious.
I can’t do justice to them all but here is a sampling; pan fried momos- excellent (these were extraordinary level of osmness! These are perfection, no matter what how much I praise these, you got to order them); Lama’s veg platter- wonderful (aloo sadeko and dry chole were fingerlicking good) ; Jhol momos- delicious ; fried fish- succulent ; beautiful Nepali non veg thali which had delish mutton curry, bittergourd chips, fried aloo, wok tossed spinach, dal and rice with all the condiments- exceptional!
Atmosphere is traditional and really superb, staff is attentive and they seem like there are having fun which is infectious. Our server Subhas and waitress miss henny were amazing!
This is by far the most authentic Nepalese culinary experience you’ll have anywhere in Delhi, and is surely a must do! A slow dining experience (cos they make everything from scratch and so fresh) where Nepalese cuisine is bfuly presented, served and thoroughly enjoyed.
Expensive? Slightly but Make this your splurge. It’s...
Read moreWe went to this place in hopes of getting some quick momos for takeaway from a small hole in the wall shop, at least that's what we thought. When we got there, the proprietor Gagan convinced us to give their chef and place a proper dine-in. We are so glad that we actually did get convinced and thought of trying out this place.
The place from the moment you step in totally reminds you of a proper household kitchen. The proprietor and the staff are super amicable and are more than welcome to help you navigate their menu. We were recommended to try out an off the menu lamb curry with steamed rice and also Kothe Momos. The place definitely is a bit hidden, can be difficult to spot from the street, but as the phrase goes "nothing good comes easy".
I am not exaggerating, but the food was just heavenly. I got reminded of true home food. The lamb was so soft, we could literally see it melt off the bones. The texture and flavour of the meat and the gravy was just exquisite. The momos were also equally mouth watering and yummy.
We are definitely coming here again to check out the menu properly. This is a place that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for some really sumptuous and...
