As a South Indian, I heard some good stuff about this place but I do have stuff to say. Went here on a Saturday night, maybe around 10:30 PM. Haus Khas village is supposed to be a very lively and happening place at this hour and so was my expectation of the restaurants here too. Honestly, the whole nandi kind of decour they went for right outside the restaurant made it feel like it's a temple but obviously you have people wearing slippers going and sitting there, not exactly understanding the meaning and sanctity behind something like that. I'm sure they are trying to give that South Indian feel but this was low-key offensive and I'm sure a few of them would indeed agree with me. Secondly, no meals at this hour apparently, even on a Saturday night, nothing heavy and the only thing available was the dosa. The waiter came with a menu card and kept staring at us almost forcing us to order immediately and kept giving us some looks. Rasam as a welcome drink was honestly a bit weird if I'm being honest. What's worse was the waiter got the order wrong, we ordered benne rava masala dosa and they gave us plain masala dosa. Payasam was good, overall, I know we were a bit late but being a Saturday night, even our minimal expectations were not met and I'm not exactly going to vouch for this place as an amazing South Indian restaurant option in Delhi because the service was way below...

Been going there for ages now and never got sick or food poisoned. Prices for the service they give is just and right and they didn’t increase much in the past few years. It’s a treasure that it’s only problem is it’s not located on the main road. Their sweet paan is simple and good for those who want to try it for the first time but I remember (if I’m not wrong) it used to be served for free. A great place to visit for tourists who can not or may not have the time to visit south India. Foods are not too spicy and they easily match every taste. The filtered coffee is good since it’s not served sweetened like how most other indian places do. The music is not too load which is a plus. In general it’s the only loved dosai place in Delhi. Update after 5 years. It’s still our to go place for southern food. Probably been there 100 times making memories with guest who never had an idea about the South Indian cuisine. But today it’s different from all other times. Today even though the outside food is not allowed, not only we could celebrate an Iranian festival “Yalda” with dried fruits and sweets, they were also so kind to peel our pomegranate and serve it to our table. Thank you people 🍉🥰

This restaurant has a cozy interior and at the beginning of the meal, also a good service. They brought papadam to snack on with water and a little lentil soup when we arrived. These were delicious and a nice surprise. My companion ordered a dosa with grated coconut and onion, which were fried in butter according to the menu. This had a very funny taste of cheese and had almost no taste of coconut or onion. I had the crispy paratha with some vegetable stew on the side. This was quite nice and I enjoyed it. The filter coffee and coconut water were good. The lemon and ginger soda was too sweet for us. After we ate as much as we could, the waiter came with a bill in his arm, as if he were ready to charge us. But maybe I misunderstood. We then requested dessert, a Gulab Jamun. The gulab jamun was rather mediocre, it tasted too much like milk and nothing else. The waiter later came as we were still eating, asking whether we wanted the bill. Maybe it is a cultural difference but this I consider a bit rude.
