I normally wouldnât take the time or effort to provide such a detailed negative review, but MisoSexy deserves a special mention in the annals of places to avoid.
It began well with the manager Gautam taking some extra effort to provide us with an outdoor table with a beautiful view of the Qutub. Unfortunately, that was the only positive of the evening.
The dim sum was good, but the baos were spectacularly ordinary. The cocktailsâ primary ingredients were ice and water. Perhaps if the cocktails had contained the recommended amount of alcohol, I may have overlooked most of the restaurantâs transgressions.
We were hard sold the Cantonese Sliced Chicken by more than one of their servers. The two of us shared one piece, and it was a complete disaster. Weâve had better Chinese chicken at roadside eateries.
Again, the manager Gautam sold us the black bean sauce chicken gravy with rice. This turned out to be a Rs.1,300 Dal Tadka with rice.
Having quite lost our appetites, we asked them to pack the remaining food and let us be on our way. We were brusquely and aggressively informed by different servers that (a) itâs the restaurantâs policy to not provide takeaway and b) they were out of packing boxes and hence could not give us takeaway. One server told us that âwe wonât guarantee food quality beyond ten minutesâ. Another told us âPan Asian food cannot be packedâ. We asked him if he was trying to tell us that other Pan Asian restaurants in the city (I provided some examples located in highly rated five-star hotels) were morons for providing takeaway or did not guarantee quality. His response was âLet me speak with my managerâ.
None of the various servers we spoke to were clear on the policy. The chef had to intervene and get us a takeaway box, thereby refuting all the stances taken by the service staff.
When the bill arrived, it included service charge. I asked the floor manager (I was too annoyed to ask him his name) to remove it and he, with his clearly extensive legal expertise, proceeded to give me a discourse on the Delhi High Court order on service charge. This consummate legal expertâs interpretation was that the levy of service charge was at the discretion of the restaurant and not the customer. I deal with lawyers and hoteliers extensively as part of my job, and according to him, every single one of them was wrong for telling me that the Courtâs order vested such discretion with the customer.
It was only when I offered to download a copy of the order and read it out to him word for word that he had it removed from the bill, all with the attitude of someone who was performing me a life-changing favour.
It was at this point that it struck us that the servers had neither offered us water to drink nor asked us we wanted mineral or regular. However, someone who has read my review up to this point would be right to ask me whether I was being optimistic to the point of foolishness.
As we were leaving, we walked out within a few inches of the manager Gautam, who having clearly performed his job of milking us for about 12K, did not even bother to acknowledge us or ask us about our experience.
Not only am I going to provide negative reviews in as many forums as I can, but Iâm also going to go out of my way to let people know to avoid this place. Miso...
Read moreWent to Miso Sexy this Friday evening and had a horrible experience. It was quite chilly that evening and the AQI was 390 but the restaurant refused to give us indoor seating even though we had a reservation (they said indoors are booked for a private party but there was literally no one there). They gave us a seat on their rooftop and lighted a heater near us. At this point there were just 2 other tables occupied. We asked the manager to light another heater because it was too cold and he refused to do that saying if more people come theyâll need the heater - valid point, so we told him that he can take the other heater away when the other tables need it but the guy couldnât care less. The table next to us ordered a hookah. My friends and I arenât comfortable with smoke so we asked the waiter to move us to another table. At this point we were sitting on a long-chairs-table but the waiter said if you want to move, you need to take the couch tables, EVEN THOUGH ALL THE OTHER LONG-CHAIRS-TABLE WERE UNOCCUPIED. LOGIC?! Had to argue with the manager for that as well. The new table they moved us to had dew on it. But of course, they didnât care to wipe it dry for us cause they literally have no sense of hospitality. Now letâs talk about food. We ordered a shrimp wonton soup which was quite good, and veg cigar rolls which were decent as well. But things went downhill after that. We ordered a hot toddy which was served COLD. We ordered turnip cake which tasted average and came with no dips, so we asked for mayonnaise/schezwan sauce but the terms were so foreign to the waiter, he just stood there with a blank face. Then we ordered Dan Dan noodles and MY GOD! THATâS THE WORST THING IâVE PUT IN MY MOUTH IN ALL MY YEARS OF EXISTENCE. We also ordered a dragon roll sushi (apparently their speciality) which really wasnât worth the price they charged us. And then, when we refused to pay the service charge (only because the service was PATHETIC) the waiter started arguing with us on that too!
All in all, nothing worked - the food, the ambience, their service.
Please donât waste your time...
