Sum Yum Asia — Restaurant in Gurugram District

After browsing through a lot of Chinese restaurants and their menus, zeroed in on "Sum Yum Asia" based on its mixed reviews on Zomato. It surely turned out to be one of the best decisions!

Before placing the order, had called up the restaurant to check with them if they could customize the spices and veggies to our taste. And they had readily agreed to do so.

Ordered Honey Chilli Potatoes, Veg Spring rolls, Veg Hakka Noodles and Vegetables in sweet and sour sauce through Zomato as Zomato was doling out some good discounts. All cooking instructions about chilli content, spices and veggies was mentioned in the ‘cooking instructions’ options on Zomato. But even then, after placing the order, called up the restaurant again to reconfirm the instructions so that we are not in for a sad surprise when the order is delivered. The restaurant was indeed true to its word and prepared all the dishes to our requirement. All items were tasty and our entire family enjoyed the treat thoroughly. Besides, packaging was excellent and the order reached us in time.

Terrible Experience at Sum Yum Asia – Not Worth Your Time or Money!

I had high expectations when I visited Sum Yum Asia, but this place turned out to be an absolute disaster. From tasteless food to unfair billing practices, everything about my experience was disappointing.

Let’s start with the food—completely bland and lacking any real flavor. Every dish was unnecessarily sweet, as if they had mistaken sugar for seasoning. I had ordered multiple items, hoping to at least find one dish that met basic expectations, but nothing was even remotely enjoyable. The balance of flavours was totally off, making it feel like I was eating syrup-drenched food rather than actual Asian cuisine.

To top it all off, when the bill arrived, I was shocked to see they had overcharged me. Upon questioning, they made a lame excuse to justify the extra charges. This is nothing short of unethical and dishonest. A restaurant that can’t be transparent about its pricing and tries to squeeze extra money from customers is one I would never recommend.

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Sum Yum Asia, and it was an experience worth talking about! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with such warmth and genuine hospitality that made me feel instantly comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, and their attentiveness was truly commendable.

As for the food – it was absolutely delightful! I tried the Assorted Momo Platter, and each variety was bursting with flavor, perfectly steamed, and paired with the most delicious dips. The Chilli Potatoes were another highlight – crispy, spicy, and perfectly seasoned. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into their preparation, making every bite a treat.
