A few years back, when my missus was admitted in a corporate hospital closer to Clock Tower in Secunderabad, I went to this once reputed hotel and took away a parcel of vegetable biryani. After I reached the above mentioned hospital, I opened the parcel and started eating. Almost half way through, I found a small cockroach in the food. My first reaction was to take the parcel and throw it on the reception desk, but somehow I controlled my anger as I thought they (hotel people) would argue that my action was deliberate to tarnish their image. Nothing like it. I just cursed myself. Why am I writing about it now? I thought others should know how clean their kitchen is. Better late than never, isn't it? Another Kamat hotel was there near Paradise circle (not sure whether it is still there) where we (self and spouse) had our lunch. My wife wanted to use the rest room. It was a horrendous experience for her. It still haunts her. That clean it was!! Wonder what the food authorities do? Make a periodical visit, accept the hotel's hospitality and just leave. This is the case with most of the un-starred hotels in our city. By chance, if one wants to use the rest room (mostly women), one has to go to a star hotel. When will the dining experience change? Recently, a report appeared in the local paper quoting a minister that the state will compete with Japan!! ( or something similar to that) Let us pray that the minister's...
Read moreRecently, had been preferring Punjabi /North Indian food items whenever eating out. And must say, I was looking for a change. Hence, tried lunch at Kamats restaurant in Secunderabad on a Sunday. It is in line with the famous Kamat chain of restaurants, which are known for their vegeterain food, especially South Indian food. I had ordered the famous Veg. Thali. It was sumptuous, with lots of quantity, with a balanced, and variety set of items as you would expect in a Thali. Clean, Simple, home like food. It was a welcome change from all the heavy overdose of spicy gravies that one has with North Indian food. Also, the good service is something newer fancy restaurants need to learn. In the wake of expanding, good service is sometimes lost. Not with Kamats. I hear its a very old and famous restaurant located in Secunderabad. And their old school values of good service, hospitality was at display. The crowd was also a mix of young, old and middle age people, which was a surprise. Looks like youngsters too are preferring eating healthy as most of them took thali. Overall, I am very much satisfied by Kamats restaurant. If you are in Secunderabad and want to try good vegeterian food, Kamats is the...
